I need a rough estimate for shipping a standard Atari cabinet. I have heard $300 tossed around often, but I dont know the distances. From your own experiences, how much does it cost for NAVL or whomever to ship a game and to where? I dont need a quote, I just need some opinions or rough guesstimates. Say, hypothetically I would put my Space Duel on eBay and offer free shipping instead of having the buyer arrange it. How much would I stand to subtract if I had it shipped from Reno to Delaware, Florida, Texas or wherever?

Not sure you want to do that... Anything like a flight of stairs, will really up the cost of shipping it. Shipping to a doc or terminal for them to pickup might be better since you can control the costs and they can deal with driving someplace within reason. Either way, you see $300 to $400 thrown around on here with variation for distance, and the extras as mentioned.

I think a cab from here to Cali ended up close to $500 thru NAVL, but made it there in perfect condition...

the quote for the tournament cyberball from Boise to Florida was 550, so a regular cab i would guess would be 350-400, offering free shipping might not be too good unless the buy it now was 750-800ish.

pinball machine from the east coast to west coast residence no stairs was about $430 for me 2 years ago through NAVL. Through forward air to nearest terminal to terminal was a little under $200. But They stuck a forklift through the bottom of the pin. Get insurance coverage.

I quoted a machine from NAVL, Cali to Oregon from residence to a dock - $325. If that gives you any idea for state to neighboring state.

Reviving this thread to ask more about this - what is the general NAVL quote range for same state (or nearby neighboring state) residence to residence? I've seen a lot of posts about coast-to-coast, or up and down the coasts .. just curious what kind of quotes people have gotten for shipping (e.g.) 6 - 8 hours away?

I have used Beltman Group for several moves (877 518 2863). They are associated with NAVL & they have an arcade knowledgeable team; for example, tell them "standard pinball", with start and end zip codes, & you will get a quote in minutes. I do NOT recommend free shipping on an item this large, instead offer to help connect them with someone like Beltman. I currently have a Nicktoons Racing sit down coming from mid Florida to mid Michigan for $399. Good luck.

I've used Uship.com for quite a few moves and every time they've blown away NAVL, ForwardAir, etc on both prices and service..once you try them, you'll be hooked!

Just an update - the quote I got from NAVL to ship a game across Texas was about $400. Apparently the minimum mileage (1400 mi) is what made the big difference (although it still seems a little weird that this would cost as much as shipping cross-country).

Anyone else have quotes for same/nearby state for comparison?

I am trying to ship 13 cabs from Bay Area to Florida soon and the current quote is about $5800 through Beltman/NAVL!!! They are trying to get me better prices. Initial quote, based on weight, was half of that... once the plugged in the dimensions it shot up. best quote I have is from Allied currently at about $3800. Trip is about 3000 miles, give or take. OUCH! Looks like I am gonna sell a few before I make this investment.

Just finished my first shipping transaction with uship. Had to coordinate the pickup and plans changed a few times but once it got picked up the delivery to me was stress-free. It was $190 to ship a Wrestlemania cab from Maryland to North Carolina. NAVL quoted $400 for the same shipment.

You can get quotes or name your price. If you aren't in a hurry and have some patience it can save you a bunch. You don't have to pay the shipper directly. You can pay uship and then once the delivery is made you release the payment to the shipper via a code. No insurance though (i think).

I used Uship maybe 10-15 times, save money a few deals ,ran into problems a few times ,I have not used them for 2,3 years ,maybe they are getting better ,most dealers are not fully insure ,after a few cancel shipment,I stop using them .

Anyone can be a Uship dealer ,some are full time shippers ,some are a guy with a car or truck .

One guy picked up the game ,told me he was poor ,his boss did not pay him much, asked me for some lunch money (I know that was bad sign),then took home play the game over a week ,decide not to ship it ,I had to hire a 2nd guy pick up from him .It was a brand new game ,I am just glad it did not get damaged .

Why do I know he pay the game ?I called ask him if I put a power cord with the game ,he said "yes ,I open it ,we had party this weekend ,it works great ".

One guy picked up game ,delivered fast but he also use the same trailer to move horses sometimes ,the trailer smalls really bad ..my customer told me that too.

3 shippers schedule the pick up ,then cancel since they did not got enough freights to go to that area ,they wasted 2,3 weeks ,customers were not happy .

through Navl I would estimate around $500 to be relatively safe. Even then it's possible it could cost a bit more but it could be less too.

OMG those stories are horrifying. Could be worse I suppose.

None of Uship dealers damaged my games ,that is the good part .
I do not know who will show up to my door pick up the game .
I was worry when the guy took my game home to play ,if he did not allow ,not available for 2nd guy to pick up ,then what to I do ?drive to where he lives then call the police ?
Anybody can be their dealer ,dealers change schedule many times and they can cancel anytime .
If something goes wrong ,you are on your own .Uship is just the middle man .
One dealer was going to ship my game once ,ask me how big is a video game ,he was thinking about Xbox,he has a car ,not tuck ,van since he came to WI visit his family often ,he becomes to a Uship dealer .
One dealer told me ,she can drive but she can not load or unload since she is an old lady .
Ask a lot questions before you hire any Uship dealers .
