Hey Guys,

I picked up my NBA Showtime today, but I have a NBA Hangtime PCB that I want to put in it . . . embarrassing question of the night really . . . I've never done this before . . . how do I swap the boards?

Thanks

make sure the game is off...disconnect the jamma harness...unscrew the board from the cabinet...screw new board to the cabinet...attach jamma harness

Ok I pulled out the NBA Showtime, and when I plug in the NBA Hangtime I just get weird stuff on the screen, I double checked, plugged my NBA Showtime back in and it works fine.

Any ideas? Is my NBA Hangtime PCB bad?

Thanks

yes

Andrew

. . . thank you Andrew . . . looks like I get to deal with eBay Protection Plan, just checked and the seller doesn't accept returns

*EDIT*

I just noticed that the screen appear to be something similar to this:

but its all fussy!!! Any ideas?

Here is an attachment of what the screen looks like, I can't really capture, but it looks like a messed up version of the above screen . . .

Step 1. Need pics.
Step 2. Clean the contacts of the board. Use a pink eraser to clean the contacts that the harness goes onto.
Step 3. You say "fuzzy". You may just have to adjust the monitor horiz and vertical holds. (WARNING: Be Extremely Careful. Touch only the adjustment pots. Use TV adjustment tool or a plastic screwdriver if you have one.)
Step 4. Remove and re-seat all the socketed chips on the board. Carefully pry the chips out of their sockets with a flat-head screw driver. Then Carefully put them back in the same way they came out.

This is the easy stuff. Start there.

Well, one question you could consider, Hangtime is standard res vs showtime is med res, so if you are trying to display one on the wrong kind of monitor it would look shitty..

I thought I read somewhere that you could put a Hangtime PCB into a Showtime Cabinet . . . .

Other way around. A Showtime board will work in a Hangtime cab because the board has a dipswitch that will allow you to choose standard vs medium resolution. If you have a dedicated Showtime, then you likely have a medium res monitor and the hangtime board won't work. It's technically a downgrade from Showtime as well. Hope that helps.

I drove to Nashville and back to get NBA Showtime so I could put Hangtime in it . . . FFUUUUUU . . . well . . . crap

Your outside my realm of experience but I though some of the newer monitors had switchable support for standard and medium res.

The first thing I figured out was how to change the board but since I have a background in PC repair that was easy. Hopefully you have the right montor for this but when I picked my messy conversion I'd already figured out that it was set for konami 4P jammas. Just like the power supply plugs on a PC you just needed to put the darn thing into the edge connector, connect the sound, 3P and 4p and it's game time. Then again I stink at wiring so this CP thing is driving me batty...

Doesn't matter if he takes returns. If it was described as a working board that is what is to be delivered.

I think the PCB works fine because I can kind of see the image, I think I'm fighting a low resolution vs medium resolution monitor issue at the moment . . .
