I know there are more desireable models and less, How do you tell. mine is the regular size but the backglass swings out on a hinge, not pull out for the front. Where will mine fit in the famly tree?

Least popular is the EBDLE with the truncated, small backglass
Most popular is the early version with yellow framed head and stationary backglass

Yours, the hinged model, falls in the middle.

Best part? Regardless of desireability, they all play the same. My favorite game, I own two.

WTF are you all talkng about? Quit using abbreviations for obscure pins!

And still you play these games instead of answering the question. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? This aint no TZ, TAF, MM, TSPP, MM, MB, TOTAN, TOM, pin. Dude, I aint a mind reader. WTF is an ebd?

Was working on my SS yesterday. What do you think? Guess what an SS is? WTFKnows!!

EBD = Eight Ball Deluxe

EBDLE = Eight Ball Deluxe Limited Edition

SS = Scared Stiff

Thank You for clarifying about Eight Ball Deluxe. I honestly had no Idea WTF EDB was let aone EDBLE was. As for SS, it could be Solid State, Silver Slugger, Space Shuttle, Space Station, Strange Science, Super Sonic, Scared Stiff, etc.....

I hate abbreviations, too, and I didn't get what EBD was at first either. That said, I love that game and would love to own one some day. I'm not a fan of the limited edition version, but I'll take what I can get :)

Took me a while to get used to the abbreviations as well. My feeling was that it was proper to always use the full name in a message once, then the abbreviation was OK.

Not that way in the pin world. I can figure a lot of them out now, but this helps and is very quick for the ones I can't get.

I would guess that the people using these stupid abbreviations get less answers to their questions than those who at least type out the full name at least once in their post.

Chris, I couldn't agree more! I can't stand the look of the LE cabs... Never knew there were three different styles for an EBD.

One question... did '"all" Mr. Mrs. Pac Mans come in this awful cab or was there a small run they did in the regular style cab?

They all had that same "LE" crappy cabinet style.

Word is that when sales of Mr. + Ms. Pac went soft, there were plenty of cabs left over, so the factory pulled a marketing scheme and decided to re-release the more popular Centaur and EBD (Eight Ball deluxe for those who don't know...;>)) formats to use up materials and generate sales.

May have been a "win" for Bally, but the collector world really shuns this style of cabinet, especially for the two latter games.

Not really a good guess, I answered his question quickly.

On the other hand, guys who start their messages with stupid abbreviations like "WTF" are really the ones that need to calm down and get a clue. He's less interested about the topic than someone insulting his "abbreviated sensibilities". Hey, a play on words there!

Yours is the later model (circa 1984 or 1985) and is actually a Bally/Midway machine. The other differences are lack of artwork around the coin door, decals for the artwork, faux leather t-molding, lack of white frame around the back box, black apron, some details under the playfield, and as you know the hinged backglass.

Yours is also more desirable than the clunky looking LE version and slightly less than the first run.

If you happen to need a blackglass, CPR will be releasing one within a few weeks.

all pinball abbreviations come from a directive directly from comsixpacknonsense as directed by the dept. of redundancy dept.

Actually I was interested in the topic as I am a huge fan of pinball. If I wasn't interested I never would have clicked on it. The WTF(What The), and WTFKnows (Who The) were points I was making regarding the ambiguity of abbreviations. I am familiar with almost all pin titles but occassionally have trouble with the abbreviations. It was frustrating because for the life of me I just could not figure out what EBD stood for. Besides all that, it was interesting to learn the reasons behind the LE models. I never heard that story about the extra pacman cabs.

Chris,
You did jump in quick with the answer to his question,but. I think it's a fair statement to say that by using an abbreviation only that your likely to get less answers. I also think it's fair to suggest people at least take the time to put the full name of the machine in the title of the post. I'll admit I really don't have any interest in most of the machines that the abbreviations are used for. I may be wrong,but a good portion of the people who use those abbreviations come off like they are in some kind of elite group.
