How do you see your gameroom in 9 months?

In 9 months I am hoping that my game room will finally exist! Currently my games are just lined up in my garage. However, sometime this year I am planning on putting up some walls in the back part of my garage and building a new room that connects to my basement family room. Right now I have 5 games and a 1950's shuffle alley, and sometime this year I will also be getting a 1960's era pinball machine from a friend. I would like to add at least one or two more games, and maybe a second pinball machine or an old Coke machine. So the room will be just big enough to house all of that stuff.

Hopefully it will actually happen this year. It is high on my personal priority list, but lower on the entire family priority list (I am sure many of you know how that goes... gotta take care of the family and house before hobbies).

If/when I start the project, I will be documenting and posting pics here.

Don't feel so bad, old pal. I think it will be well worth it. If it makes you feel any better I would burn all my vids on my front lawn if it meant I could have a child.

EDIT: Ok... I didn't mean ME having the child and I can technically have children. For the record ;)

Yeah, kids are awesome. I was just hoping to add onto the game room anyway. I guess I'll just have to store a large portion of my games in the garage til at least one kid is grown and out of the house. That will be a bittersweet day. Actually I'll be quite sad that day. I love having my kids around.

I am hoping to use a little of the tax refund money to get another game. I told the wife, I wanted a Megatouch but now I am not sure. I would really like a Bagman or Elevator Action. The refund is quite big but I have a pile of old bills that have been dogging me for a long time. We need a new recliner ($300 for the one we looked at) and she wants a portable dishwasher (about $500). Got some car repairs too, so I might have to wait and see what is left. I'm getting bored with my Tetris, so that may have to go.

I am changing the lineup quite a bit. I am planning a 4 game trade this week, so I am looking forward to playing some new games. Towards the end of the year, I may try to slim down the collection a bit. If not, I need to find a way to keep all of my other crap more organized. I can barely walk around in the garage right now.

I am having fun trading games. I thought about it a lot, and out of the 12 games out there right now, only 5 are definite keepers. The others I just don't play regularly anymore. I am always surprised at the games I don't play. Paperboy will be leaving this week because I just never seem to want to play it. Three of the 4 games I am bringing in were never planned to be part of the collection, but I am starting to like the idea of having them out there.

I think I have said it before, but I am really enjoying this hobby now. There is no self imposed pressure to find every deal out there. I sometimes go a couple months without even going out to the garage. It is nice having them there when I want them though. The obsession is gone, and it has been replaced by a hobby that is fun again. I love it.

I am also going to get rid of a ton of parts this year. I want some space back. If it isn't needed in the near future, it has to go. Too much crap. I would like to actually be able to host a game party sometime this year.

Crap! Where in here does it say make a 100 mile round trip to pick up a beat up Pac-Man cocktail??? Where??? OK, maybe I am not quite over the impulse buying. :)

I have a teenager who should be moving out no later than July. When she does my wife and I have decided to move into the room she currently occupies and the master bedroom we are sleeping in now will become a game room addition. This will result in the entire downstairs of my house being my gameroom. I will be able to get the SMB pin out of the computer room, I will be able to move the pins into my bedroom and off of the uneven floor they are on now (some "Mexican" tile crap that is uneven by design), I will be able to actually work on games at my house, and most importantly I will finally be able to host a party for fellow collectors...

Nine months from now, I'll probably be in a different house. Assuming it will be long-term, I'll try to get some blacklight carpet and I'll be able to decorate with framed posters, comics, toys, collectibles, etc. We'll see how it evolves. I hate not being able to do anything to my game room now knowing I'll be moving.

We are hoping to move this year as well. However, there are a bunch of financial hoops to jump through first. (the aforementioned bills) The place we have already looked at has a big basement, so with any luck......

Need to paint
Wire better electrical for just the game room
Buy more frames & posters
Get a pinball or 2
Determine the best mix of games and keep the rest in the basement

I just had a baby, she's 7 weeks now. Ug, haven't had time to even turn my games on once with her being born.

We want a number 2, but space will be rough!

i don't really see my gameroom changing all that much. until we get a bigger place, and i can have more games, i'm focusing on new artwork on the games, more memorabilia, etc.

I think I'm finally done with physical cabs. Bought two early in the year, and I'm now out of room. I've moved everything into a specific space (minus my Tetris dynamo cab, which is moving downstairs tonight). More JAMMA boards for the dynamo and a switch-out control panel are in the future (maybe this year, maybe not). The only thing I think I might concentrate on is some sort of bartop machine. Right now a Commodore 13" RGB monitor (one of many) sits on my bar with the option of playing games or watching videos. Totally good enough for now, but something more permanent would be nice. Also, it would be nice to get some permanent chasing rope lights around the perimeter of the arcade area (chasing Xmas lights are there now). I'll be updating the decor as I do every year. The gaming basement is NEVER truly finished.

I may turn-over one or two of my games that don't see much play. I definitely want to add a driving game or two, potentially replacing those games that don't get a lot of attention.

And I need to fully organize my parts storage area so I can easily find stuff when I need it. A good spring cleaning and organization binge will take care of that rather quickly.

I have a couple of project games in the garage, at least 1 of which will be sold when restored (Burgertime upright). When the weather warms up substantially, I'll get going on that one.

Oh yeah. I'm still interested in seeing it when you get it near completion. But one of mine must go if I'm even going to consider it.

We just moved into a new house with a real basement, so I have plenty of room now. But of course it's unfinished so all Ill try and do is fix the games I currently have, and possibly sell some stuff. The vids don't get a lot of love anymore and everyone, including myself, seem to enjoy the pins more, so Ill probably try to get a few more of those in the future.

Hopefully I'll have a Tron by then. Also, I'll probably be in a new house, and hopefully there will be some work on the location I'm working on opening.

I'll keep adding things to decorate the gameroom; Lost Highway themed things.

I doubt I'll buy any new games, but I'll try to fix the 2 EM shooters that are down.

I want to finish a secret "project" I'm working on and share it with everyone here.....

Gone.

In 9 months, I will most likely no longer own my home, and my games will be back in storage.

Game room was fun while it lasted. Hopefully the new owners will appreciate the blacklight carpeting and LED stair lights.

Yes, it's a poopy post, but not all can be happy and fun.

Me? I should have a new room then so I should have my klax in my room and maybe my pacman. But my Dad and I's game room should have mine and his other games.
My room should be my mini game room.
