I see all these great deals many of you guys find in Craig's List and it has me wondering: How do you all find them? Do you search in a particular way, or use certain search terms to narrow down the results somehow? Set up alerts somehow? I used to use "crazedlist.org" to search multiple locales simultaneously but apparently they've finally been shut down and I only see the main site as an option which is too cumbersome IMO, so I imagine you deal finders spending a lot of time to find these tag sales/estate sales, freebies, and generally great deals. I never seem to come across these myself, so what are your secrets?

I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you...

Just kidding, it's actually all about the phone apps for alerting you of craigslist ads. I would beat a collector local to me all the time because of the app and the fact that my phone is better.

I found mine with an Android app - CraigsNotifica 3.28
It allows you to set up searches and notifies you when your keywords have hits...allows you to "favorite" items that you might want to check on later.

arcade -tickets -xbox

That's it.
Then after I see the results, I double-click the 'city' portion in the URL and slip in other 'city' names within decent driving distance.

Sometimes I'll leave the window up for the last city and a few hours later when I'm bored, I'll F5 it. Look at anything decent, then alt+left-error it for the previous 'city' in the list and F5 that one too.

You can't roll forward after doing the roll back and refreshes, but this little set of keystrokes is handy for me.

Sometimes I'll key in some more obscure searches, but that's my basic routine.

I have RSS feeds plugged into google reader for pretty much every ohio CL subsite. They're not instantaneous, but works well enough for me.

Good ideas to try... I don't have an android but maybe an iPhone notification app is best, since my aged mind has never really been able to do the RSS feed thing. :-/

Thanks for the input!
