This is just a general question because I'm new at this. I've heard of people using car battery chargers, 2 to 10 amp chargers, to heat the coils enought not to cook them but enough to release it from the glue or silicone. If that were the case Id happily try that on this 25 inch tube with some mystery yoke so I could replace it. BUT it doesn't have the wedges with glue in between it an the tube. The tube's neck is wrapped with white tape, not that gauze looking tape on most which are used for grip, but some thin looking white tape completely wrapping the neck. Plus there is not metal ring that is tightened with a screw, just some solid looking plastic ring where the convergence rings should be........yeah no convergence rings.......not even sure if there are any purity adjustment magnets.......

I'll get a picture when I get off work. I just want to get a new yoke and matching chassis for my mystery tube.

The battery charger is only used if the yoke is bonded. It sounds like you have a standard yoke, there should be some worm gear esque lock down.

What you mean worm gear? I see nothing for like a tool to be inserted in.........

Like a hose clamp. Is there a bar perpendicular to the neck with a triangular end on it? If so that is supposed to be turned like a screw.

If it's bonded, good luck. I haven't heard of anyone getting one off.

Most are NOT bonded. Look for the tensioner, circled in red in my attached pic.

Loosen that, and you should be able to wiggle and eventually break free the yoke.

There is no tensioner. No thumb screws. No worm gears. Nadda......

Take a look at my pictures. I mean I don't want to have to destroy the Yoke, but I am going to replace it. Just trying to be gentle with the tube's neck.

There is also a picture I could remove the little ring of what seems to be like ferrite just held down by tape where the Tensioner would be.

I tried it (followed Chads tutorial). It worked fine. I think I used the 2A for like 15 min, then got impatient and used the 10A. It really didnt get all that hot, but did soften the glue. I was able to twist the yoke, and once the glue breaks, your golden. FYI The couple of these that Ive seen dont have convergence rings..

Don't think this battery charger trick is going to work. I got it on the horizontal winding for 12 min at 2 amps, then switched over to 10 amps for like 3 minutes. No budge, so I shut it off and did some picking around the plastic ring where the convergence rings would be and then broke it off. It was still decently hot so I threw back on at 2 amps (switched polarities) for 5 minutes, but still no budging. It's not burning but it's getting pretty hot enough for the charger to start shorting. Rather not start a fire in my apartment........

Anyone know of a chemical that could be applied between the cracks to aid this removal of the yoke? Maybe like rubbing alcohol.........?

I mean really, they have 2 sides pegs where the stuff was just injected through and it's mostly bonded right at the beginning.

I pretty much said screw it when my picking broke the leads off the horizontal coil. Sware this thing was stuffed with like a hard plastic like adhesive. From top to bottom too, but I spent maybe a good hour picking and breaking off pieces until I could get the 2 halves to let go of the tube's neck. Lost a yoke in the process, but it was still a mystery one at that.

I'll be buying a new yoke and chassis to whip this tube into shape. I hope the picture brightness is nice.
