How do you notify yourself of awesome Craigslist deals?

I have a bunch of Craigslist feeds set up for all of the games I'd like to have. I'm sure many here have the same. The issue is that I don't regularly use an RSS reader, so I'd like to have the feed sent to my e-mail.

My current solution is to set up the feeds in Google reader, automatically post them to a public page, and then use Feedburner to send them to my Gmail account. This works just fine, except it is STUPID slow. I just got an e-mail about 30 minutes ago (today is Friday) on an Outrun that was posted at 7:30 Wednesday evening (it's gone).

Does anyone else send their feeds to e-mail, and if so, how?

Get rid of the google reader. Very slow as you have stated. There are some $$ RSS readers out there that will keep u up to date around 5-10 minutes after they are posted on CL.

I use Outlook 2007, has an RSS reader and you can set up rules on sending you alerts....

I had not considered Outlook. Maybe I'm trying to make this too hard. I tried both Thunderbird and Evolution today. Both should have worked but did not for various reasons. I'll give Outlook a shot--thanks!

I click on craigs list and when I see a good deal I tell myself "look there's a good deal." BTW I never used any of these programs when I was actively pursuing games and I beat out other buyers who did use these programs all the time. Persistence works better than any program I've ever found.

+1 Well put.

Don't know how well it works, and generally speaking I hate Yahoo! - but I made a MY YAHOO home page and it's really easy to add RSS feeds to it, and drag and drop to arrange them to you rliking. I get web comics, my Twitter, Craigs List, and several other feeds whenever I open my browser.

Regardless of how intrusive and ghey Yahoo is, if you're careful when setting it up it's pretty good. This is NOT the Yahoo home page but rather the "My Yahoo" home page option.

Im one of the developers of Pingie.com. Its a site that does RSS to SMS, AIM, and Email. So all my arcade feeds from craigslist I have sent to my phone. It sucked when we had one guy in the Orlando feed posting his neogeo in english, and spanish 3 times a day though.

This looks perfect for me. Is it free? Ad supported?

I set up Outlook 2007 vs. Pingie.com vs. Google Reader+Feedburner (my old way) with the following results today:

12:29 pm Craigslist message posted (according to CL timestamp)
12:41 pm Outlook notification (set to 5-minute receive interval)
12:47 pm Pingie notification
??:?? ?? Feedburner notification still has not showed up, and it's 6:30 pm

I'm pretty pleased with both Outlook and Pingie. 18 minutes is pretty good, especially compared to my current setup. I think I'll switch all my stuff to Pingie, just because I don't want to leave Outlook running all the time, as Kent mentioned. Thanks for the input, everyone!

Edit: Feedburner showed up, but a little late for the prom--7:33 pm.

Its free (other than your own SMS costs to receive). We support the public site by selling message blasting/updates to tradeshows, lan parties, and conventions.
Thanks for making this available. It appears to be an excellent service! I hope you make enough dough at the tradeshows to keep the public site free. Good luck to you, sir!
