at home I like to play with all lights out. the only lights are coming from the pin. no outside music or noise.only what the pin produces.out in the wild im just happy to find working pins.

Typically with two arms, however I'm not against hiring two midgets and screaming at them, "RIGHT,LEFT, RIGHT RIGHT, RIGHT LEFT RIGHT, LEFT, BOTH!"

Midgets are funny people, they make me laugh.

I prefer playing with the lights dim and no sound other than the pinball as well. I get too distracted if other sounds or pins are playing nearby even. :)

BRILLANT! rep to you sir.

EM's are fine w/ the lights completely out, but for newer games - basically anything with flashers - I find that it's too easy to get blinded if you have it completely dark while playing...

Good luck playing F-14 in a completely dark room :p

I like tons of background noise from my arcade machines attract modes and other pins, reminds me of the real arcade days. The best is when I have friends playing multiple machines all simultaniously. I usually pump 80's music as loud as my wife will allow also, sometimes I wear an army helmet for effect.

Here is my recipe for a perfect night of pinball:

1. Clean all playfield glass.
2. Mix a nice cold vodka martini.
3. Turn off all the lights except what's being produced from my games.
4. Only sounds are the game I'm playing & attract mode from the other games.
5. Play each game at least one time.
6. After multiple cocktails step back and just marvel and the sight and sounds.
7. Go to bed and pass out.

I like to play the hell out of one game usually for weeks at a time to try to beat my previous high score. I'll put a Pandora station on in the background and have dim lighting. Been going between standing and sitting on a stool not sure which I like better.

I kinda like playing with the lights on, even though all my memories of arcades have been the only light was from the games and maybe some signs, but whatever.

If I try to play with all the lights down and no background noise, I end up taking the game too seriously. So I prefer to have background lights on (neon signs, other arcade machines, etc.), attract mode noises from vids and pins, and music on all in the background. That way when I drain down the center, I can simply slide over to a different machine and play a new game instead of getting hung up on the pin.

I go over to his house and pretend that his machines are mine.

Not really. :p

Call me crazy, but I really like rotation pinball on one machine, 3-4 players. I love watching other people play. I've also started co-op pinball with my older son. He mans the right flipper I get the left on Space Shuttle. He's pretty damn good, he's 6 and he HAS beaten both me and my wife. Awful. :)

I usually only have the one I'm playing on. Lights off and sound at a reasonable level. I don't mind if other games are played next to me, but it's nice to hear all the sounds. Tonight I turned on both the pins and alternated games between them. - Barry

I really enjoy the blue light bulbs. You can pick them up cheap from Menards or home depot. They provide a bunch of light and still have the black light effect. I love them and rock them hard. The black CLFs do not react well on older pins ans do not light much at all. The blue bulbs provide a lot of light and still react with black light colors.

They fricking rule SO HARD

It is a bit of black light and a real light. They rule

You are always welcome to come play. The only rule is that you bring over some beer and reciprocate the offer.

That looks awesome! How do you like that Baby Pac? Is it a stupid hybrid or a "you've got your chocolate in my peanut butter" kind of thing?

Baby Pacman = >.<

The stories about them being a pain are true. My horseshoe is having issues right now. I am planning on getting it all fixed and selling it soon. Like a real baby, it is cute and fun to play with, but I would not want one of my own ;)

That's what I thought. I have very vague memories playing it as a kid. I love playing Pac-Man and I love playing pinball. I guess it's like a multi-tool… it does a bunch of different things but it doesn't do them very well.
