how do you guys remove baked on stuvk on sideart from hell?

ok my tron sideart mustve been melted and pressed on and not stuck on..

ive assaulted this bastard with goo gone(orange), brake cleaner, carburator cleaner, any other chemical i has laying around, hell i even tried the propane torch...

WTF MAN lol.. whats the secret to getting this krap off easily???? ive got about 4 hours in and dont even have half of one side off yet...

Don't know about easily but a good heat gun and a metal scraper will probably do it. Or you can buy the tool that's meant for this job which is a thing that looks like a soldering iron with a scraper attached to the tip. Basically it's a heated scraper. Never used one but heard it works great. Can't see why it wouldn't.

Last restoration article I read, the guy used Citri-Strip... or something like that, you just smear it on, let it sit... make some tea, have a sammich, see what's on TV, poop if you need to... and after a while, it just takes everything off the side.

Atleast, that's what I read... I've had my heart broken by more than 1 adhesive remover... (Goo-Gone fail).

Citri Strip is awesome. I used it on my TRON. I got a paint brush and painted it on over the side art, let it sit for aboot an hour and it scraped off like marshmallow. Ill never use anything else. Thanks Citri Strip! :)

Shhh, Goo Gone, it's ok... he doesn't mean it.

You do a wonderful job cleaning my hands and paintbrushes of icky old oil based enamels. You also show stubborn labels that you can still be tough without being abrasive to the surface underneath. In fact if you don't eliminate my greasy sticky problems, I can return the unused portion in a container with an original sale receipt as part of Magic American Products, Inc 100% Money Back Guarantee.

SSShhh... but I wont...

LOL.. ITS GOOD STUFF, JUST NOT IN THIS CASE...

ive even been trying using chemicals soaked onto a towell and leaving thr towel sit on one section at a time... with slight success...

i have some indistrial grade automotive paint and gasket stripper in a can.. im gonna give that a whirl tonight...

ok permatex decal and paint stripper wins!!!

holy krap!! spray it on, wait 5 mins, it takes off all the spraypaint on my cab as well as making the sticcker scrape off like its putty and its done a nice job of NOT eating my original laminate/paint/whatever it is on these tron cabs...

would i use it on one i didnt plan on painting? probhably not...

did it work well for me on this particular job where all else has failed? hell yeah!!

i gotta go get another can so i can finish up lol...

thanks fellers!! and thanks permatex!!!

It has always been very easy for me to put on a show and be cocky, and be flooded with a cocky feeling and feel pretty cool and all that. I can make all kinds of phoney things. Blinded by it. Or I can show some really fancy movement. But to experience oneself honestly, not lying to oneself, and to express myself honestly, now that is very hard to do.

The quote from Bruce Lee is there for effect only. CitiStrip, the old lady's hairdryer and a plastic putty knife so you don't leave any gouges. That grasshopper is the key.

I never used CitiStrip but I have used a heat gun to remove side art from an Indy pin and that worked GREAT!!!!

I also used the wife's hair dryer to remove a stubborn Galaga CPO and it worked just as well... I guess the point I am trying to make is HEAT, HEAT, HEAT!!!

Citristrip is pretty potent stuff- not the cheapest thing out there though. I used it to remove the factory paint off my DK JR. Took off the paint right down to the particle board after eating through about 3 brushes.

hmmmmmmm.... looks like im gonna have to hitup my local pearl harbor frieght and see if they have one.. im pretty much done stripping this particular project but im sure this isnt the last cab that i will be strippin'

i dont have to worry about cpos anymore.. i have my solvent tank up and rinning so when its cpo time i will soak the cp in the solvent for a day or two and it shoudl literally fall off.. we shall see....
