I need a 25 or 27" med res monitor. The game is NOT switchable. Yes, I'm sure. Used monitors don't exist near me, and no one is willing to ship one. What do you do if you need one?

where exactly do you live? they do come up for sale from time to time, your mostlikely just going to have to travel. or maybe rob one from another game locally.

Western PA, between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg. I can't find a game with a working med res monitor for less than $500, and I don't want to destroy one game to repair another.

I would happily concert them to LCD, but I can't find a tv that turns on and off without using the remote.

You can still buy new 25 inch vga monitors that will support standard and medium res images but they are pricey. Same thing with a commercial arcade lcd.

What is "pricey"? I can get a 32" lcd tv for $209, and a converter for $30. I just wish I could find a way to make it turn on without the remote. Kinda cheesy putting a game on location that requires a remote.

Twisted has them starting at like 460. For new monitors many vendors are going to be in that range. Commercial LCDs are going to be around that as well.

Someone else might be able to chime in but if there are any auctions near you I'm sure you could find one.

For cheap I'd say an lcd tv in it. Maybe wire in an external power switch and put it in the back near the power button(or behind the coin door if that is where the cabinets power switch is.

You can still buy new 27" medium res monitors from Happ. These are being sold still for GoldenTees etc. They are the Makvision ones.

Some TVs do turn on when power is turned on. Sony Bravia 46s do, as I have used three of them to convert large Sega driving games; Insignia, Best Buy brand, does not. Some are also programmable for instant on. I went to Sam's Club & Best Buy and worked with a sales person to determine which ones had instant on. Denny

I am, but its huge and heavy as heck.
pm me if you're really interested.

I have never had luck getting a 25" or larger monitor shipped to me in one piece. They ALWAYS arrive with the tube broken at the neck. With UPS, unless you pay them to pack it, they won't pay on a claim. To pay them to pack it, it's always $90 for materials and then $40 for shipping and insurance. So, it's close to $150 just to ship a monitor, and even then, if it's broken, you have to file a claim and wait 3 months for them to investigate it.

To buy a monitor from Twisted Quarter, it's $540. I can't spend $540 on an arcade game.

I just feel at a loss as to getting these games working again.

To the monitor experts - is this a monitor that a tube can be found in a modern TV? Well, in terms of pinout/neck/neck width?

If you've got nothing to lose, you could do a tube swap if you have one with a broken neck.

If you don't have a monitor at all, get someone to sell/ship you a chassis and yoke (and possibly a frame). You then find a compatible tube in a TV and do the swap. You may have issues getting the convergence 'perfect', but the first one I tried, it came out good enough.

That's the low buck solution, a little bit of a PITA, but really not bad.

most LCD computer monitors turn on when the power is turned on. I used one for a NARC it is med res and those monitors (especially 19") are a pain. looks great just remember you have to mess with the clamp settings on the converter or it will fade to white with med res signals. Good luck

check tigerdirect.com for a refurbished one

SIlver, if your any good at tube swaps..

find somebody with a monitor working or not.

Buy the tube and yoke.

install on your own donor tube. TADA.

TVs with auto power on are sometimes only once a VGA signal is applied to it. My TV is like that. The only time it auto-powers on is when a VGA signal is suddenly hooked to it.
