How do you deal with arcade games on carpet?

Just moved. I used to have my DK on hard wood. Very easy to roll it out to work on/swap boards, etc. Now it's on carpet (berber but with some decent padding underneath). DK won't roll on the carpet. I was thinking about a chair mat or something but those things are really expensive. Anybody got any creative solutions? What do other people do?

I move the feet to their maximum height and put those self adhesive furniture glides on the bottoms. They slide around pretty easy after that.

I have seen someone else do this method recently. It works great. Not sure if it will work on nintendo cabs since they just have a wood base.

Put these under your casters and you're done... they are available at any hardware store.

The EZ Slider things work great. I moved all my cabs, including the humongous Golden Tee out into the gameroom by myself using these. I even got them over a ledge between rooms using these and a plywood ramp.

No casters on Nintendo games but I bet I can just put EZ Sliders under the 4 corners of the wood base and I'll be golden.

Yep, they make long rectangular ones that would work perfectly on the bottom edge of the 1x Ninty bases. I never knew about them until after I had already installed nail-on teflon glides to all mine. They work, but those rectangular sliders would work better given the much larger and smoother surface area.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Sounds like a much better alternative than a $60 carpet mat!

Those sliders are the way to go for sure, go to Home Depot and drop $8 for a 16 pack of the round discs, or go for the rectangle ones mentioned above. Either way, they're cheap and they're life savers. Like TOK mentioned, as heavy as GT & PGA cabs are, these discs make them slide like butter.

I really like the Nylon leg levelers that TNT Amusement was selling back a while... they absolutely ROCK.

I have the round sliders under the corners of my Punchout. It still doesnt slide as easily as my other cabs but part of that is due to it being a bit heavier. So a couple extra sliders or the rectangle ones and you should be fine.

I went to Lowes last night and got some "Super Sliders". They didn't have the rectangle ones but they had some big 'ol 7&1/2" ones.

I put one of those under each corner and that worked like a charm. So I only spent $8.00 and I have 4 extra 3&1/2" sliders, plus I don't have a big ugly chair mat on my floor which probably would have cracked under the weight of the game anyway.

Thanks again everybody!

Just a little advice for those who have games on carpet (berber):

If you have thick padding, you may want to rearrange your games more often. Carpet will stretch, and you could be stuck with some nasty divots (speaking from experience here). Anything that helps distribute the game's weight over a larger surface area will help prevent stretching the carpet. The larger the carpet sliders, the better.

YES. They don't have anymore but they kick ass. I put them on all of my machines when I got new carpet for the gameroom. The machines can be moved with ease.

These fit perfectly onto leg levelers. You really never even notice them, like you would with some of those bigger sliders. With these, I have no problem moving a pinball machine around the room.

Here's a picture of a couple games with them, and a game without them. They're hardly noticeable, but make a huge difference in moving them. Swords of Fury and T&F have them, RS does not(it does now!).
