How do I...

email a person has been replaced with tag a person feature. see the FAQ

Hey Don, appreciate the response on my items. On the tagging thing, I read through the FAQ but can't figure out how this works. I tried it and I must have done something wrong as I didn't get any notifications.

Your instructions in the FAQ:

>Tagging users: KLOV now has the abilty to tag users. Tagging a user is an excellent way of notifying a member of a thread or post that they should be aware of or could possibly help in without having to send them a private conversation to let them know about the thread. Tagging a member is very simple. Use the @ symbol followed by their username with no spaces. the software will begin to search out and give you a list of possible usernames you want to tag as you type. Click on the name from the list you would like to tag and submit your reply. Tagged users will receive a new notification that they were mentioned in a new post.
>An example @DonPanetta

So use the "@" and then user name, easy enough, but where/how exactly do you do this? I tried clicking on reply to a thread (your FAQ as a matter of fact) and entered "@joemagiera" and hit reply, and it posted my reply, but I didn't get any notifications.

@joemagiera ,

i saw your post. You can tag yourself but you won't receive a notification.

So did I do it right? Just click reply to a thread, enter @ and username and click on post reply?

Is there a way to email someone without referencing a specific thread?

Can someone/anyone please try tagging me (@joemagiera)? I'd like to see the notifications received. Thanks,

In the old forum there was a jump to new icon next to the thread titles. Can that be added back? I see a jump to new button once a thread is opened but that icon saved a step...

click on the date on the far right hand side

Thanks but just noticed clicking on the thread title of this thread brought me to the new post so maybe it is easier than that even...

How do I access a posts new responses from the index of posts? Currently it appears I have to drop in to the post in question then click on JUMP TO NEW at the top right. Any way to configure a NEW button to appear on the index of each post that has new info (or a small icon of some sort) that we can click to get directly to the new response for that post?

anway to remove everything on the right side of the forum or move it down?

i really dont need to see none of that. (use to be at the bottom before)

I had this same question. I ended up marking all of the forums read. Now when I click on the thread title it takes me to the first new post. I suspect the forum transfer didn't carry over what we'd read, so it sees all threads as new. Marking them read fixes that problem.

Is there a way to completely ignore some sub forums? E.g. chat about anything, jokes, politics, religion? There used to be a new and new arcade only. I don't want to see those B.S. sub-forums in my feed.

Yes. A search for up n down finally yields usable results.

Somebody must have already asked why a poster's locationisn't shown anymore, right? Bit of a PIA on the sale threads and then some.
I was just going to check that, haha. It wasn't just me that couldn't search up'n down

Those little popup messages that appear after you login at the top of the page, stuff like "Make sure you turn your notifications on under preferences...", is there a way to go back and find them after you close them out?

Hmm looks like tagging/mentioning users is working but you are right, I am no longer receiving notifications for it.

Not that i know of

That really sucks for the for sale section.

It seems Prefixes are on but currently not enabled for users.

See the the how to use the forums page and see the section about the user profile panel. You should be able to tinker with your notifications in the preferences panel

Can we get push notifications on our phone for alerts, when something new comes to our watched forum.

It should be on but many people including myself can't seem to enable it in the notification preferences

Ah! I am noticing that now...

Yes i mentioned this in a new thread. mark all forums read and then in your next visit you should see new posts by visiting the New Posts link at the top of the forums navigation. see the New Posts section of the tutorial

So if Tapatalk is out is there another similar app supported by these forums? I have no intention of using the web interface.
