Please tell me Tapatalk is still supported.....
We've only been talking about its demise repeatedly for years now. If you search for posts made by me mentioning Tapatalk, you're find a regular stream of them.
Getting rid of it was one of the main reasons we upgraded. We needed the upgrade to make the site mobile friendly without Tapatalk's help.
Same on TapaTalk. I pref having the dedicated app. Mine is not working.
Xenforo is working on a quasi-app... it may get you closer to where you want to be once it comes out.
tapatalk isn't installed yet
...and never will be again.
And there will NEVER be a supported tapatalk here. ever. It's gone. Poof.
New site is web-responsive and Greg/Admin refuses to install a virus-ridden-security-flawed app like tapatalk.
...Tapatalk was the closest thing to serious malware I've ever allowed running on one of my computers.
* Their general business policies don't align with the needs and concerns of this site, and they regularly took new actions that weren't made to serve the interests of a site it was 'helping'.
* Originally touted as something useful and innocent (it was originally), over time it became clear they were just charging us monthly for their server plugin for the right to build
their business
. Their desire to become a destination themselves led them to in essence compete with the sites they were supposedly helping.
* -Several Times- they changed account preferences (our account) to allow marketing back on to our members when I had it internationally turned it off. On the server side it moved from free to $5/month in order to prevent the advertising, if I recall correctly, but later that didn't make a difference anyway. [I would have been happy to pay them measurably more every month if their business model wasn't so evil, IMO.]
* They advertised directly competing sites (and god knows what else) to our members (and again charged us the monthly server fee for this privilege).
* A lack of software accountability and things we observed once gave me security concerns that kept me up at night
* They tried to allow their software to register users directly on our forums years ago, bypassing our security and processes.
* They deflected image uploads to their own servers without asking us. I didn't ask them to sell our users on using them for third party image hosting, and then to watermark the images so they would further advertise themselves on this site. Every single time they added a new 'feature', if I had the ability to turn it off it was added in a way for which its default setting hurt the board and its users. It was always about them.
* Of course, site metrics like Google Analytics were skewed because of this thing.
* It was one more thing to upgrade and maintain.
* more..
