So I picked up an ABC Pac diagnostics board.

Looking at the instructions page, I'm supposed to get this image when I plug in the board:

Plugged it into a known working Pac board, and this is what I get:

WTF is up? Is my kit not working? Is my Pac board kinda broke?

I would start at the ram at location 4X. Even though your board plays pacman it could still have a failing ram that this diagnostic chip is finding.

After you play around with this thing a little bit... you're going to be really dissapointed by it. It just doesn't do much. Basically it just tells you if the board is messed up, and doesn't really help troubleshoot it at all. Just the regular chips can tell you if the board is messed up, lol.

That board is absolutely worthless in troubleshooting a pac. The only thing useful about it is that it bypasses the roms in row.
Check your sync bus card for bent pins.

I'd try calling or emailing them. I've always got great service.
At least it tells you if the RAMS are bad..

Yeah, there must be some bad ram on that Pac board. I swapped in the board from my Ms Pac in my game room and the ABC board powered up just fine.

Now, I'll just start swapping ram until I find the bad one.

Interesting that Pac would boot to attract, play the first board, but still have a bad ram chip. The bad chip must not be used for attract or the first maze.

Anyone ever run across that? A board that seems to work but has bad components?
