How do I switch between DK and DKII games in the multi-kit?

Tried holding down P1 & P2 and pressing "Jump", but that doesn't work.

Does the game have to be in freeplay mode to swap between games?

No special wiring is required and no special switches are needed! Toggle between games by simply pressing both the player-1 and player-2 start buttons at the same time. Instantly the game will reset and switch to the other game. :)

Okay, so that's definitely not working for me. Both P1 and P2 buttons are tested and working. Pressing them together at the same time has no effect. :( Neither does pressing them, and then pressing Jump.

EDIT: just looked at your link - those are instructions for Double Donkey Kong, not the DK/DKII multi kit.

I believe the game has to be set on pay for play.
The only way to switch while in free play is to shut it down, turn it on and choose the game you want in the menu.

Just tried it. It's actually the opposite: freeplay mode is apparently the only game mode where you can toggle between games with P1 + P2.

I couldn't remember which one for sure since I haven't played D2K in quite a while.

Jeff built an updated rom for me which enables P1+P2 in "pay for play" mode. He had that disabled in the official version due to the potential to have this running in a commercial setting. He told me I could pass it along to other D2K owners as long as it isn't posted publicly. PM me your email address and I'll send you the rom file, which you can have steph @ hobbyroms.com burn for you if you don't have your own burner.

Awesome. PM sent!

Update: Steph and TheShanMan totally came through on this. Got the ROM file, had it burned, installed the chip, and now I can switch between games in regular coin-op mode. Thanks guys!
