I've got a 1971 Gottlieb "now" that I want to replace the pop bumpers on. It looks like I need to desolder the bulb holder from the bottom to replace it. Is that correct or is there an easier way and I'm just missing it?

Unfortunately there is no easier way. Occasionally you can desolder the wires at the other end and pull them through the playfield if they're close by but I wouldn't count on that on a gottlieb EM. The rest should be pretty straight forward. Taking apart is easy. Putting back together can be the hard part. In the case of a pop bumper it's not difficult. You just might need to do some tweaking to get it to operate smoothly if you're rebuilding it.

I was afraid of that. Shouldn't be too bad. I'm not doing a complete rebuild. Almost everything is working, but I did have some issues with the drop targets and credit mechanism. So I am primarily replacing cosmetics and resoldering connections that the previous owner used electrical tape on.:p It's going to get a new paint job too. The last owner painted over the side art with white spray paint. I guess he didn't like flowers. It's going in the gameroom, so cosmetics are important.
