I'll check it out. I'm assuming Wells besause of the WG on
the chasis, but it also says phillips. I don't know if they were or are related. Here are some pics.

It really did'nt look like my k7000. but I have'nt had it out. I suppose on second glance it is similar.

Am I correct in assuming that a static sound like Radio static acompanied by jail bars that happens on an intermitent basis should be fixed by a cap kit?

That makes me think the cap kit will not be the magic bullet in this case. Not to say you shouldn't do it but look for bad solder joints while you're at it.
