Looking to get a full size driving machine. My basement door opening is about 29 1/2 inches wide. Most driving games are 30" wide. Before I make this purchase I was curious if there is a special way to get a square peg to fit through a round hole (turn the machine sideways, remove pieces etc..

The doorway is easier to fix, just sayin.

If you're adventurous, you could always un-hang the door, and remove the door frame. That should get you another inch or two in the opening. Depending on how your finish trim and molding is done, you may be able to pull it off without too much headache.

As long as the opening is at the bottom of the stairs you have it made! Just give the game a shove and let gravity do the rest.

My suggestion to you is this: Set the game on a piece of cardboard. Draw a line around the base of the game. Remove the cardboard and cut on the line. Carry the cardboard down the stairs and using the template you just made, try and fit the cutout through the doorway. If it fits, check again remembering to add the dimensions of any parts of the cab that stick out further than the base that CANNOT be removed. If at any point it doesn't fit, see one of the earlier posts for your resolution....

I just recently got a midway MK1 cab into my basement. Had to break the wall to make the turn. It was worth it.

I say break whatever you have to so you can get it down there lol I'm a drywall guy though

I've taken parts of machines before to fit them in the door, especially drivers. It just depends on the game for which parts you take off. Also, I found with my door that taking the hinges off of the frame gives you an extra 1 to 1.5 inch clearance.

If getting the game in on its side , doesn`t work with the door off , your extra half an inch can be got by taking off the 2 door stops , thats around 20mm instead of 12mm , no need to take out the jamb [ if you have nailed on door stops , there the 2 straps , one on each side , running down the center of the jambs ] slide a chisel in just underneath every set of nails , lever out etc ,

That's exactly what I did. Not to get the door frame to go back together is not as easy..
