How do I configure my IPAC2 to resolve to the numbers on the number pad with numLock on?

I have an app that has been programmed for sprite movement with 8(up), 6(right), 2(down), and 4(left), but only works when numLock is on. I can't seem to configure the player 2 joystick inputs to resolve to these inputs, probably because of numLock?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should only need to reconfigure the inputs using the Ultimarc software.
If not that, Andy is really helpful!

Thanks for your reply. I am using the Ultimarc app, but I can only configure the parts for the key presses without numLock. The software shows the port has been assigned, but when I test it is not activating the numLock directions.

I sent an email to Andy, waiting for a response.

Odd.
You would think that the key presses would be tied to the #s associated and it wouldn't matter if you hit the 8 on the top row or the 8 in the # grid (as long as numlock was on.)
Curious to know what you learn!

Andy says no can do. The IPAC encoder just sends a number, and a modifier key like numLock, is recognized at the computer level. I either need to de-compile the program to change the accepted input, or see if I can write a MACRO that makes the computer think numLock is turned on.

Can you not just set numlock on at boot in the PC bios?
I think I'm not understanding some aspect of how you want this to work.

Are you absolutely sure you describe this correctly to both us an Andy. I just plugged in an Ipac4 (i don't have a loose ipac2 atm), you should be using num' keys from the dropdown menu. I just tested this by disabling numlock on my physical keyboard, plugging in my ipac4, searching a num key (player 3 and 4 use them by default) and hitting a key and verifying it with a keytest tool.

In the drop-down menu the number pad keys are listed as num1,num2, num3 etc.

You are my hero. That works exactly as needed. I am not sure why I didn't test this in the first place. Thank you so much for your help!

You could have alternatively used a cheapo arduino pro micro or 5 dollar raspberry pi pico as a keyboard encoder to get this done. The pico keyboard libs are kind of a mess but they would still work for basic stuff like this or you could have used a pico in conjunction with the GP-2040-CE project
