Hi,

I know how to adjust the 5v out on a "modern" switching unit, but have no idea how to do this on the old-school original ones. Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks,
Ryan

Depends on which power supply you're talking about. There are dozens of different ones. Not all are adjustable. It's the exact same basic procedure though - put a meter on the 5v at the board, and turn the correct adjustment knob on the power supply. Some old supplies even have adjustments for the other voltages, which would then be done separately.

So they do have knobs/pots then? Or at least the ones that can be adjusted do? Thanks, that's a big help, I'll look closer at the actual PS boards themselves. I was thinking it should be down on the floor where the isolation transformer and distribution block is, nothing down there looked right for adjusting voltage.

Thanks very much!!

Yes - the control will be on the power supply board itself somewhere. Sometimes there will be two or three of them, in which case you need to check the manual or trace out the board to see which pot controls what voltage.
