How comes the sound on my Ms Pac dont work nohow?

Any ideas on how to do a leakdown test. You know what I mean.

once I test the speaker and fuses I'm going to be pretty much out of ideas on my end

thanks

News flash: the colors on the vision pro monitor i put in are also messed up

seems funny that the monitor and sound are both messed up all the sudden

Moving the cabinet will affect the colors on picture tube type monitors due to the varying influence of Earth's magnetic fields. Leaving the cabinet powered OFF for at least 30 minutes then repowering should start the monitor's built-in automatic degaussing circuit and clear it up.

Pacs/Ms Pacs usually lose their sound due to a blown fuse for the 12 volts power. In a Ms Pac, the 12 volts runs the coin door lights AND the sound circuitry.

There are a couple of PROMs on the board down far side of the board from the edge connector that you can try to reseat too.

If it's beyond power, wiring, speaker, or PROM reseating then the board will need surgery.

I figured it out.

The connector for the main board was dirty, some radio shack electronics cleaner fixed it

thanks

A fiberglass bristle pen works wonders on these. Follow with a coat of dielectric grease then wipe clean and its good for a very long time.
I have seen some pac boards that the edge connector looked perfect on but after cleaning the issues went away. Common EC problems are bad sound, rebooting and color issues. Corrosion is an excellent insulator.
