I've been buying and selling games for quite a while now and I can't remember EVER seeing one advertised for sale near me. What's up with that? Are they that scarce? Are people just hanging on to them? Are they prone to failure?

What are your theories?

I use to have one. Mine use to break down every two years or three years.
I tend to see more amor attacks still kicking around than star castles.
I still have a monitor over lay for one.

not sure if I have seen any listed for sale but I know I have known of them selling in our area. They do seem to be prone to failure. I think there were 3 at CAX last year and I'm not sure if any of them worked for the duration of the show or even a full day for that matter.

I've been looking for one near NJ .. and found one but the guy wanted 750. It had some
spare parts with it but I thought they went for roughly $500 in nice condition.. so I am still looking.

You dont see them come up for sale very often. I've watched the youtube videos
of the game play and it looks fun but I'm on the fence about picking one up.

Great game, I would pick one up if you can $500 is about right!!

I have one and it runs great, very stable. I have one buddy that when he comes over we have some great matches versing eachother. Mine is right beside my Armor Attack another great game.

Well if anyone sees one around here (or an Armor Attack) let me know....even if it's broken I'd be interested.

It's just funny to me how certain games keep popping up a lot (Star Wars for me) and others like this are never around. I've had 3 Tempests, 3 Star Wars....but zero Star Castles. Just doesn't seem right.

any cinematronic game is uncommon. Working is rare. Don't know what it is about them, but they are always missing side art. Cabinet material sucks as corners break really easy..

You have monitor problems, board problems, and power supply problems. So not easy to fix. I think you should have a good idea how hard they are to repair from your sundance effort...

I would think most cinematronics games ended up in land fill. I have had maybe 8 star castles over the last 20+ years. Since its one of my favorites I pretty much grabbed all I could find.. I have maybe 8 SC pcbs on my board rack. I think I have only crushed 1. So someone else killed a few..

If you really want an AA, I have 2 cabs.. I also have a kit for SC that will let you play ripoff and SC on a rotary switch..

Every time i went into a new Arcade as a kid I would look for one to play. It seemed like there were alot around and didn't get converted probably because of the vector. Anyways put up a WTB thread and someone will sell you one. That is how I found mine last year, didn't take long either.

your on the wrong coast, i've seen a couple up for sale up here in the northeast in the last month or so.

I was offered a armor attack for 500 not to long ago. Saw One for sale in irvine for 600.
Was Offered a pair not sure of the price.

I use to have one side of the art work. I should dig around and see if i still got it.

I just picked one up about a week ago for 125. It's not it too bad of shape at all. It has power to the board, and the tube glows. Have not had much time to mess with it yet. The monitor overlay is not in the pic.

This is the first one I have seen in Iowa since I started in the hobby.
