How come i never see any posts about kung fu master?

Just curious, it was one of my favorite games back in the day at the roller rink (which is still there believe it or not).

I never see any for sale either.

Well, what a coincidence.

I just found one for $35 here locally... the pcb that is

There are others on ebay atm but not as cheap as the one I sourced locally (gotta love luck)

It's funny, because i'd seen whole machines back quite a while for less on craigs than just the pcb on ebay.

Had i have known they wouldn't come up very often for sale, i probably would have bought one.

I remember it but don't think I was playing it in the arcades BITD, I remember playing it on a console?

I did play Karate Champ, but not Kung Fu Master.

Was it the same as "Kung Fu" on the NES? I think that was an Irem game. I played it on the NES and one of the few games that I 'beat'. I don't think it would stand up to other games in an arcade now..but would be fun to have on a multigame or MAME setup.

I remember Kung Fu Master being a side scoller where the dude was walking on planks and stuff would fall from the ceiling like snakes and some dragon with fire, and then at the end of each level he had to fight a guy with a club, nunchuks, etc

When your player died, he would basically fall of the planks and there'd be this trippy echoey "HWUAAAA!!!!!!!!!"

I have one, and it gets decent love. Funny you are right, not much pump here on klov?

Loved kung fu master as a kid. Played it a lot in the arcade and on multiple consoles. Truth be told when I was young I wasn't very good at games even though I enjoyed them. Years later I got a couple kung fu master boards in a lot of boards. When I played it I realized it was pretty easy and with something like only 5 levels it was possible to run through the levels over and over again pretty easily. The game play and difficulty of the game are just not challenging or deep enough for the game to hold my interest now.

I have a Kung fu master upright missing the monitor( this is how I got it). It plays blind, so you just need to get a monitor. $150

One of my least favorite games... Those guys all piling up to hump on you ;) is tedious.
I do have a complete boardset here, but no way to test it.

I was lucky to source one locally less than a week ago for around 25 USD, built an adapter and voila! It works. It is the Data East branded version. I didn't remember how hard it is! Once you get the hang of it, it is a lot of fun.

This game is making a comeback. I've had two or three people talk about it in the last week, some guy just left talking about it. You used to not be able to give the things away (In fact, I turned one down for 50 bucks or something a year or so ago that needed some work)

Is this the same as "Spartan X"?

Yes, the Japanese version is Spartan X, licensed from the Jackie Chan film (Wheels on Meals in English). I've got Kung Fu Master but really want Spartan X too.

Of course, although the game is licensed from Spartan X, it's clearly based on Game of Death.

I picked one up this week in decent shape. Played it for half an hour. Couldn't get past level 4. Damn butterflies. How do you beat the dude at the end of level 4?

Mike

I am pretty sure I have a Spartan X board boxed up somewhere. It's definitely untested and I'd be surprised if it worked, but I guess you never know.

Please let me know if you want to sell it, indeed if the EPROMs are ok I could probably swap them in, though there are more of them on Spartan X.
