How big is your arcade / game room?

How large is your game room / arcade in square feet? And how many games can you put in your arcade before its filled up?

Dream house shopping in NC and trying to gauge how large of a basement I'll need.

Thanks!

Good luck finding a house with a basement in NC!! :D

The two car garage the Edgarcade is in is about 20x20. I think I figured I could fit 40 games in there if I wanted to (8-9 on each wall, 8 in the middle). But I need a wall for storage and a wall for a workspace and workbench, so 20-22 fullsize uprights is my max.

Attempting to annex more square footage in the house as we speak. "Guestroomcade!" :D

North Carolina - up around Charlotte.

Josie - TONS of houses in that area with basements. Coastal NC, no, no basements. But western NC and upstate SC - basements are very common. Many are as big as 2500 square feet. Imagine, a 2500 square foot home arcade? Some of you have bitchin' arcades and have 500 to 1000 square feet. Double or almost triple that - nirvana.

That explains it! Did some looking about 6-7 years back in coastal NC and I was really surprised that not only did they not have basements, but very few people owned swimming pools, there were only community pools. I knew I could not live there with out my own private and personal pool... :D But since then I discovered Montana... and there are basements here!

pace I'm using is 168 Sq. Ft. with a twin bed still in there so visitors can nap and play games when they're in the mood!

Total space for games in my home is 1520 sqft. Going add another 400-500 sqft when the remodel is done on the house. Thats not counting the games I have at friends and familes homes..

the space i plan on using for my dedicated arcade is approximately 1/2 of my detached [currently in serious disrepair] 20X20 garage, so about 20X9.5 feet. there will be two doors which'll cut down on the usable space, but i figure if i stuff 'em in i can fit 16-17 standard 19" cabs, maybe one or two could be a bit oversized. or i could replace 2 cabs with a pin.

i'd like to use the whole garage, but i have too much "outdoors" stuff like bikes, lawnmower, tools, etc. and i don't want to get one of those crappy sheds to put 'em in. besides, i do most of the work on our cars and it'll be nice to have somewhere inside to do it.

if we ever could get the money together i'd love to put in a basement; then i could have a 1000+ square feet for a game room and still have space for a downstairs laundry, storage, and maybe dedicated home theater room.

for the moment i've got 10 cabs in the house, 3 in my office and 7 in the back dining room [8X11] which we don't use anyway.

6.5' x 11' ~71sq ft! WEEEEEEEEEEE! My arcade games share my appartment's second bedroom with a home theater and console game collection. I managed to fit 6 games in that space + 1 cocktail under the theater's projector screen. I'm kinda out of room now in the appartment, if I want to stay married, so I'll be upgrading my U-Haul unit soon :)

I have three uprights and a pin in my 16 X 16 dining room, along with a piano and the dining room table.

Yep, I'm single.. lol.

My basement arcade is a little over 700 sf. I have 39 vids and 3 pins stuffed in there with no room for more :(
