We've got 100's of Payphone from mount on the wall to free standing types in our warehouse. Anyone interested in one @ $25.00 plus shipping? I have no clue as to what shipping is going to run. We get them in on pallets and huge boxes so I'd have to imagine that shipping is above $50.00.

These are in all kinds of various states. Some clean, some covered in cob webs... I also have no clue how to make them work as regular phones but I'm sure it can be done.

Shipping from 75034.

Just a thought.

The typical modern payphone weighs 45 to 50 pounds depending on what company manufactured it.

Western Electric/AT&T cases are 50 pounds. Coin return bucket is on left.

GTE/Palco/quortech cases weigh about 45 pounds. Coin return bucket is on the right.

I had a long thread here and on the arcade controls forums regarding payphones. I am also a payphone installer/repairman. However, I have not worked on one for a couple of years.

Are these all "dumb" phones (from a local Bell Telephone company), or are they "smart" phones from a privately owned payphone operator?

Regardless of where they came from, they need to have the all the keys with them and all circuit boards still inside. Keys to get into them and the circuit boards to make them operate.

Payphone manufacturer Intellicall is located in Plano, Texas.

Remember, wall mounting a payphone will require a "backboard". You mount and level the backboard first, then the payphone mounts to the backboard. The backboard is made in two styles: cast aluminum or fiberglass. In home use a fiberglass one would be fine. In commercial use, I only use the cast aluminum ones.

I've been toying with the idea of a payphone for the arcade. But, I'd need more details. Maybe photo's of the style you have to offer. I'm sure then we can figure out if they can be made to work in a home environment or they're just decoration.

Guys.

Not a lot in the way of details. We dont have time to deal with the phones which is why they are sitting like they are and were trying to get rid of them for such a low price. All I can tell you is that they are in fact payphones, some free standing and some wall mount. You guys will have to fiugure out what shipping is going to run.

If some here wants to find some one local (Dallas area) that can come by and take some pics and get some info I'm sure that would be fine. Some of the phones are up high on the racks so those wont be able to be looked at. At the very least I can take some pics of the phones on the floor and post those here but wont be able to until Tuesday.

I wish we had more time to get some details on these phones but we have a huge International order to get out and thats taking up all of our time. That and if we had to get too involved in the phones we would have to sell them for $100+ each.

It would help to know where they came from. Whether they came from a Bell Operating Company or from a private payphone vendor/operator.

Many Bell Telephone operating companies have been pulling out payphones like crazy. These would be "dumb" phones and would need to be modified to operate properly on residential lines.

I have no clue whether or not if they are Bell or otherwise. All I know is that they come in at a pace of about 10 per week and they are taking up room and we want them outa here!

Matt

Regal Cinemas runs their own payphone route in their theater chain. It's under the KPV Payphones name (Knoxville Payphone Vending a division of Regal Cinemas). I know they have been pulling out lots (but not all) of payphones from their theaters. Only ones that have good phone traffic (i.e. profitable) are staying in the theaters.

They use a mix of Protel and Elcotel (a.k.a. Quortech) private payphones on their route from what I understand.

Here are some pics of the phones.

We DONT have keys here at the warehouse. All of these phones are coming out of our theatres so expect them to have typical wear.

If I can work out the details with the guy that heads up the payphone dept these phones will be sold AS-IS.

EDIT.. I dont think some of you are going to like this but it needs to be put out there.

FYI. I have several interested in one phone per buyer but there are too many questions being asked about the phones. I dont know ANYTHING about these phones and the guy that heads up this dept in is Northern California busy doing other things so I cant ask him 100 questions about the phones. My thought was too post them here at a price too good to pass up (read it doesnt matter if they work or not) to try and help these guys out. If these phones are going to cause too many headaches then were not going to sell them.

I know it sucks but it needed to be said. Sorry gang. Dont be too mean to me please... :)

Man I would *love* a freestanding payphone booth like that. I would NOT love to ship it though lol. I'll have to talk my Texas peeps into taking a drive lol.

Aha....now we're getting somewhere. They came from your theater company's own route. That means they are private payphones ("smart" circuit boards inside) which can be configured for use at home free or charging money for calls.

Just by looking at these pictures I can tell you this:

They are in the GTE/Palco/"hybrid" cases.

Will generally have "Medeco" payphone locks.

Will have one of the "big three" payphone manufacturers circuit boards/guts installed: Protel, Intellicall, or Elcotel/Quortech (probably the series 5 chassis). All are excellent manufacturers with good products. Since Cinemark theaters is headquartered in Texas, I bet these will have Intellicall circuit boards installed.

The black pedestals with the aluminum enclosures are what's called "List 31" style an old Western Electric term from the 1960's. These are generally for outdoors, but I've seen them installed inside lots of times.

Typical weights:

Payphone: 45 pounds

Aluminum pedestal: about 30 pounds

Steel pedestal: about 50 pounds

Aluminum enclosure: about 15 pounds without light kit, about 18 pounds with light kit

You want them gone, their nasty, and so on...

I want one and I'll give you $10 for one plus shipping.

How about that?

My local CL has one listed for $12 right now, clean and the same as yours. Not sure if its still available but peoples local CL might be a better buy then these.

You might want to consider a flat rate for shipping too.
