Found this today. If you can read a schematic enough to find where the RAMs are located on the game board, but are not really sure how to find which one is bad and giving you garbled video, this is a good read as to how games do what they do.
It specifically addresses Z80 based games, but the concepts carry over to other processors, even if the pinout diagrams do not.
