I have a HOTD on location. It's reportedly freezing a couple times a month, and can be power cycled snd will resume working.

Im going to have a look at it this weekend.. Besides power supply testing, is there anything known to cause this on this game.
Thanks.

does it freeze to a white screen? I had this happen many many years ago. I wound up tearing the whole deluxe HOTD apart on a day we had probably 10 parties. I took over a whole corner of the room LOL

Sega Model 2 hardware can be pretty particular about voltage. these should've run off the regular 200W power supplies with 9 pin plugs (unlike Virtua Cop or Daytona USA where they had the Sega power supplies). I was able to arrive at a way to get 5.15V to the top board, there's a through hole chip where you can measure the +5V and you just calculate the power loss by measuring at the power supply plug side, and adjust the power supply accordingly. the white screen thing though I think is caused by the roms, which I wound up removing every rom and plugging them back in the sockets. the white screen issue never happened again after that. keeping the guns alive was my only issue then.

I am thinking power. You really should be running this at no more than 5.10vdc at front of cage on any of the power in JSTs. Running above this will take out the two custom PLCCs. M2C does not normally have lock up issues. 2B I have seen many where the 50mhx was slowly failing and would cause this. 2C has same OSC so verify its OK when running compared to not. Its super rare to have ROM Bd issues unless someone has been dinkin with it. If pebbles of sand get in the blades and hold them open, it can possibly cause something intermittent but it would have to be specific ROMs that would kill / freeze system. Reseating can cause more issues if you are not used to doing so but also would displace the sandy bits and allow pin to seat if it had this kind of issue. I see this a ton on M2 but on an HOD I can't imagine it happening. There really is not anything else that would an intermittent thing like this that I have seen. I have repaired more of this platform than any 50 people together. Probably more.
