I see that TR902, which best I can tell is the HOT, is a "factory only" part in the parts list.

What's the part number for a modern replacement? Is it 2SD869 or is that some Nintendo parts designation? Wanna be sure before I go tossing another one in there.

TIA!

2SD869 is a standard part. You can get it from Bob Roberts or similar. You can also sub the 2SD870 (same as G07) or the 2SD871.

Picked up the NTE89 on good info that it was interchangable.

The DC fuse is still blowing, however.

Also, on the HOT that was in there and on this one, it tests good for continuity to the chassis' metal frame from the case of the transistor. Er. . . is it supposed to do that - I would think not as that's the function the silicon wafer it supposed to serve - as a buffer for the metal frame and the transistor case.

The flyback shows no obvious signs of damage, cracking, etc. Hoping it's not that. . .

Suggestions?

Sadly, it's probably the flyback (and you're going to need another HOT, too).

And the fact the transistor case tests good for continuity with the metal monitor frame - normal or not?

No, no...that's bad. Since you mentioned you used an insulator (which, you need to)......that means it's shorted. I can only think of a couple of things that will do this to a Sanyo monitor.....a blown flyback, or a shorted horizontal retrace cap. I've never seen a Sanyo with a bad retrace cap.....I've seen a fair amount with blown flybacks.
