Is there purpose to glueing the brightness control on the flyback Im tempted to scrape it off but dont want to electrocute my self. Picture is dim and I want to up the brightness a bit more than the remote board will allow. Can I just scrape it off with a plastic screw driver?

It's usually glued once it's set at the factory. (new of course)
But it's ok to knock that glue glob off and adjust if needed.

The focus is usually glued as well.

I actually removed it from a flyback while it was on.

you won't get zotted, permitting the flyback's healthy. (I think)

But you can't always see the cracks (they may be underneath) and 20K volts will take the path of least resistance.

Wear gloves and try to use a non conductive tool to remove the glue.

i just grab and twist till the glue breaks or bends enough to let the knob stay where i want it.. screw cutting it off.. stupid monitor factories lol

on ones where the glue is hella stiff, i just cut a slit in the glue to allow the knob to turn freely of the rest.. blob o glue and all..

I just used a metal screw driver and grounded it to the chassis as I couldnt find these fabled plastic screwdrivers anywhere locally. Turned the knob a bit and picture is much better.

Sheesh. Just shut it off, remove the glue until it turns fine, then power it back up and adjust it...
