I can't adjust the horizontal width with either adjustment pot. Whatbinthink is the width coil looks much different than the older monitors that i am used to. I don't see a way to adjust it. Any ideas what to do?

Replace the bipolar cap that looks like shit on that little board hanging off the side of the chassis, by the flyback. You'll see what I'm talking about.

On the side of the chassis, there's a seperate board. On that seperate board, there's 1 bi-polar capacitor. It's usually burnt all to hell and falling apart. When that capacitor messes up, it makes it where you can't adjust the horizontal width anymore.

It's a weird value, something like 5.2ohms, or something. It's a 'high frequency' bi-polar, if you put a regular bi-polar in it doesn't last very long. You can use a different value though, like you can use a 4.7 or a 6.8, as long as it's close it'll work fine. Since it's such a weird cap it may be easier to find a value that's slightly off like that.

I'm not sure if Bob's kit has it or not.

What a coincidence this thread is up here today. I looked at an NT-2701 (which is says on the back of the neckboard but says NT-27E on a sticker on the chassis) today that had the same problem. I was thinking it was a problem with the W/N jumper (which wasn't there), and then found the 5.6uf 50v cap on that small board was popped (domed on top) so I pulled the chassis to recap (which I haven't done yet). It was pretty darkened, so I didn't notice it was bipolar, but now that I know, I'll have to order the proper replacement...
