I'm have an issue on my Raiden's Wells Gardner k7203 chassis. When I pull my test pattern up i'm missing the very left grid line. I went through all the caps in the horizontal circuit but still can't figure it out. Sorry i'm a noob, first monitor repair.

All the adjustments - would that include:

a) moving the horizontal position down from that top using the remote H POS pot?

b) Decreasing the horizontal size using the remote H SIZE pot?

that would be your horizontal position control and your horizontal width coil.

sometimes the horizontal width controls are not on the remote boards, and are on the chassis it's self.

look all over the chassis for small adjustment pots.

usually on a 7203 there little blue top adjustment pots.

and your horizontal width coil is the larger looking wite coil with a ferrite slug in it.
you will need a plastic adjustment tool to adjust it.

hope this helps.

The 7203 doesn't have an adjustable horizontal width coil. All horizontal size and position adjustments are elctronic and controlled via the two pots on the neckboard. There is a W-HOLD adjustment on the PCB that may have a minimal effect, and some trapezoidal and pincushion adjustments in the back corner, but nothing likely to help much in this case...

I adjusted the size and the pos and the problem doesn't change. But I didnt adjust the width coil, I was afraid of throwing the picture off to much. I'll give that a try tomorrow. Thanks guys.

EDIT: modessitt is right, I didnt see a width coil adjustment. I tried the trap and pincushion adjustments and it didnt have an effect. Any other ideas?

As mentioned, the 7201 has a width coil and shift jumper. The 7203 does not.

When you adjust the size or position, does the image move away from the top and still have that line missing? or will it not move?

Have you tried a different pcb with this monitor, or this pcb on a different monitor, to see if the problem is either:

a) The monitor does this with all pcb's - meaning the monitor is the problem.
b) The pcb does this with other monitor types, meaning the programming is the problem.
c) The monitor and pcb work with others, and the problem is just the compatibility of this pcb with this monitor.
