without a pic of the chassis it is hard to give advice.

snap a couple pics of it and we can tell you where to start.

but a cap kit is a must for any old monitor.
and probaly a fly pending on what chassis you have.

cap kit and new fly for that chassis.
it is a K7000.

when you get done center all the pots on the chassis, neck board, and remote board.
that way you have a good starting point.

Sorry I have to disagree here.

capkits don't usually fix color problems. Turn your brightness down until the green lines go away, then turn both your blue and your red pots up (you've got too much green, but if you only turn the green down you'll probably still have white retrace lines).

You can replace the flyback if you want as a preventative measure, but it won't fix what you're talking about here.

that's fine.

but i would do it as i see a difference in a new cap kit affecting colors. expecally when you replace the 3 bipolars.

also k7000 chassis needs new caps to work correctly regardless of color problems.

Simply turn down the green drive as someone suggested earlier.

Coloured retrace lines = reduce drive of said colour.

White retrace lines = reduce screen voltage.

A cap kit may be beneficial, but I don't believe in fixing something that isn't broken.

Uh... how about he just turn the green down?

Picture shows too much green.

Options

1. Turn the green down

2. 25 new capacitors and a new flyback

come on.

i suppose he could just turn down the green.

i am just used to doing a full recap on all my monitors when i get them.

but if you look in his pics he has all his bias and drive pots turned down to there minimums already.

Which is why I told him to turn down the brightness, then turn up the red and blue.

I'm just saying: It's lazy to troubleshoot by shotgunning the entire chassis... instead of using the adjustments that were built into the board to ADJUST things like one color being too hot.

if you answer to an adjustment question is for a newbie to attempt to do a full capkit and a new flyback.... you're not helping very much IMHO.

If he adjusts it, and it's still messed up, then maybe for the first time in history a new flyback will fix his green being messed up (even though it has 0 to do with the color drives) but we'll cross that bridge after he turns a couple knobs, eh?

Peace

does anyone recognize that chassis.......???? ill do a cap kit n just get it over with if i know what chassis to get one for
thanks

tweaking the setting may help the greenish background but the green lines ???? that also ? usually caps no?

Never caps, lol. Caps will never fix green lines in the background.

did you do what I suggested? Turn the brightness down, the green lines will go away. Then turn your red and blue back up.
