...for the first time in at least a couple of years. Man I forgot how much I love this thing - I really need to get a cabinet dedicated to it one of these days. All I have for it so far is Power Stone and Capcom vs SNK, though I could play Powerstone for hours on end.

This was a good way to end an otherwise uneventful weekend :)

ill sell you my marvel vs capcom 2 cart.. im thinking about running a net dimm set up with Compact flash. I love mine though, my mvc2 gets the most play out of any game now. I want power stone, CvSnk, Guilty gear x, and border down, and those right there make up the cost of the net dimm lol

I could be willing to take you up on that depending on how much you want for it, though they've always been a bit too rich for my blood. And as you mention, a CF setup seems to be the way to go these days. Though I sort of take issue paying for the hacked games on CF. The hardware I obviously don't have an issue with so much, but I don't see selling the copies of the games on CF for profit any different from someone selling a MAME cab with 1000s of games preloaded.

I guess if I ever get one of those CF setups, I need to figure out how to make my own games on CF :p

I assume these hacked games will run off any security chip?

My understanding is the security chip is 'hacked' as well. From what I can tell, all the CF games are programmed to one security chip so that they are easily interchangeable.

Or you can figure out how to load the games from a laptop to the net dimm directly (google Naomi Netbooting) and have all the games and save a ton of money.

I'm very interested in learning more about this, the reason I have avoided the Naomi system is because of the high cost of games.

There's several threads here about it. This one might help get you caught up. ToplessZ here sells them pretty frequently, just do a search in the FS forum.

If you want to try and build your own:

The Naomi has awesome games, but its a shame that it's such a clusterf*ck of a setup by default. One of my cab came with the sega I/O version of the setup, and it has tons of mini boards, amps, wires going everywhere; at least its a clean wire job, but its such a monster of a setup. I wish I could add the gdrom addon, but I dont even have space for it in my showcase cabinet!

Looks easy enough. I don't spose anyone has made a tool to allow cartridge games to be booted from cards?

It supports both cartridge and GD-rom games, if that's what you're asking.
