It kinda depends. Everyone here is an arcade collector, and can typically find good deals.

But let's say you are a Star Wars Nut, and you know nothing about arcades. You'd probably pay much much more.

In my case I picked mine up about 20 years ago for less than $300 It's a solid 8+

Good thread.

I'd pay $1200 for one in great shape, with a "bulletproofed" monitor.

okay here it is;

if the game is close, i will pay what i think it is worth + 100 bucks.

i always loose deals over that 100 bucks. a friend who also collects tipped me off to that philosophy. it has made me a happier collector.

I paid $900 for a beat up original early 80's Chexx hockey about 17 years ago. Still have it, still works great, with minimal repairs. Its now painted up with North Stars VS. Blackhawks, with accurately painted players from the 1981 seaon.

Anyway, yes, people will pay too much if they have a hard on for a particular game.

I LOVE the STar Wars game, but cant bring myself to drop more than $500 on it if I could find one.

Phet, I wouldn't put any sort of confidence in this next auction for classics. It just doesn't happen anymore at these. the last one yes but that was different. These are games that vendors are donating for a little cash and a fundraiser. the list as of today look dismal. I might walk in and walk right back out if it isn't more than there is now.

Yeah, I'm starting to feel like Ross on this one -- after seeing the results from the auction a few months ago, I got a bit excited for the MOMA auction, but I'm not really seeing anything of note in the listing yet. Unfortunately I have no choice in going -- I'm meeting a fellow VAPS member there to swap cabs. Hopefully something more shows up in the next 24 hours.

I called Chuck (who's number is listed on MOMA'S site) and he told me that the great majority of games usually don't show up until the last 24 hours before the sale, so there's really no time to list them online or take any pictures. You just gotta show up for inspection and bid away.

I'm really hoping to get my hands on a Ms Pac cab for parts. Other than that, it'd be nice to get a few project cabs for friends or my own collection of junk :)

I paid $1100 for mine in June. It was 6 miles from my home, had an Amplifone in it, and had been in the same home for 15 years. I also paid the owner over 3 months, so I thought that was worth something. I certainly paid pretty top dollar, but for the proximity and condition, it was well worth it.

I would've paid the same price. That's downright pretty.

Paid $1200 for mine, but its near mint and has Amp monitor/ Clays ESB kit. I have to laugh at some of the low ball amounts in this post. Non working machines go for $500 in my area. Nice ones with a AMP $800-$1000 all day long!!

Phet didn't ask what they go for, he asked what we would pay. Market Value is often different than Personal Value.

Sounds like you paid what you feel is a fair price, and that is a win.

Yes. It was very nice, had a rebuilt 6100 though. One year ago, I sold it for 8 bills to a forum member from Missouri who was REALLY looking for one. I wanted to make his dreams come true. He still has it and it still works flawlessly from what I've heard. I'm just really debating getting one with an Amp to see what all the hype is. I've got some discretionary cash sitting here, waiting for the auction this Saturday, but if I don't find anything I like, I may be up for grabbing another Star Wars. Crazy hobby.

If you sold one for $800 with a 6100, then you owe it to the next collector to pay $900 for on with a ampliphone. I would think a rebuilt ampliphone would take it up to $1000.

What's good for the goose...

I paid $550 for mine with a 6100, and spent $100 in gas to get it.

Exactly right. I am just trying to see what they're worth to each of you individually, as dude around here has one for $900, which seems a little high to me.

LOL! You sold yours for $800 with a 6100, and you think $900 for one with an amp is a little high!

How much would you pay for a primal rage? ;)

.

Yeah but my 6100 was rebuilt with the LV kit, etc. Bullet-proofed as it were. This is merely 'working'.

I paid 675 or something like that for one with a 6100. It woked, decent shape but I put a burn free 6100 in it rebuilt with lv2000 of course and added mark's esb kit. Ill probably never sell it. I expect these will hold their value since it is starwars and a vector not to mention a kick ass game.

Stupid question alert

Im not fimilar with the difference what is a 6100 and a amp is this monitor type? Is one more realible than the other?
