$$$ hometheater + gameroom ? who dared ?

Yep - my gameroom is set up just like this - arcade, home theater, and train layout. I'll be taking some pictures today and try to figure out how to post them...stay tuned.

Tom

Finally able to take and upload some pictures of the game room / theater...here they are. Let me know what you think. I'm planning on redoing the room, taking down the train layout for some more room, replacing the rope lights, repainting the sponge painted walls with something less 'wild' (that is painted with flourscent paint so it does look cool when the black lights are on), and rearranging the games a bit. We've had this room up for about 10 years now.

Star Wars / ESB
Space Invaders 8 in 1
Tempest Multigame
Q-Bert Multigame
Williams Multigame

Hope you enjoy the pics.

Here is a short little video I posted to youtube of the system running with my Atari Video music working with the MTV video. The Video Music display is on the screen to the right of the projection screen - by the way, that screen is a 23" TV. The projector screen is 6'x8' - you should see Star Wars on it... ;^)

Great looking gameroom.

And Boot Hill would be a great game to have .............

Hey Spacewar,
You know its a moral imperative to put that sweet Zaxxon mini next to its older brother Tempest. At least, that's the way it is in my collection.

I've been to Toms place and his game room is sweet! He has tons of knowledge and great stories. My old Space Invaders looks great in your room Tom. Got my first color vector from Tom (Space duel). Great guy! Good to see you on here.

Tom,

Where did you get the great MTV promo video? I have several 80's vids but no really good commercial/promos from the MTV era.

Keeping on the Home Cinema topic, I am nearly finished with my first Movie Poster Shadow Box. The next one should go a little more smoothly and be finished in half the time it took to build this one.

If you want some commercials from MTV, do search for VHS on EBAY and look up "I Want My MTV" I have one and I think it has all those commercials and more. Pretty cool. Picked up my copy for a buck from the dollar tree or something like that.

I picked it up at my brother-in-laws Radio Shack store in the clearance bin around 1987 or so for 5.00. It starts with the MTV intro then there are about 9 or 10 complete music videos on the tape. It's actually really good. Never seen another one.

Anyone convert one of these to DVD yet? I want to build a video jukebox for all of my 80s vids and these would be fun to rip into video files too!

I'll check around for these tapes.

This is my movie room. It was originally what would have been the cathedral ceiling to our master bedroom when we were building the house but who needs that much height for a bedroom. I mean the chains on my sex swing would get all tangled and shit with that much length. :)

I made the 4'x8' DVD shelf and the TV stand myself because I couldn't find anything retail that would hold that many discs or fit my components along with a hide-away center speaker. The TV is a Samsung 67" LED powered DLP HDTV. For audio it uses a 1200 watt Samsung 5 disc DVD player/receiver system. I'm sure it's overkill for a small room this size but I'm not complaining. For Blu-Ray I use the PS3. I'm currently playing Red Dead Redemption and it looks and sounds amazing. I nearly shit my pants everytime I happen to stumble across a rattle snake in the game.

The TV also doubles as my PC monitor so I'm usually browsing KLOV on this using a bluetooth keyboard & mouse.

Yep very nice Empire. I am just about done with the first (of 3) movie poster light boxes I am building. Mine will go outside of my theatre doors. I tried to save money by building them, but each one will cost me around $125 to build anyway. $70 just for the 2 -27"x40" acrylic sheets for each box. They will look pretty cool though.
