$$$ hometheater + gameroom ? who dared ?

Thanks. That is what started it all. I did this theater myself and after it was done people that came over wanted one and word travel pretty fast. So basically something I did as a hobby for myself turned into a full time job. Now I'm doing more tv installs than full blown out theaters due to the economy. My main room is 12 x 20 and I have a little cut out closet that I made into my dvd storage room with the popcorn machine, microwave & mini fridge.

Thanks guys, yeah it is cozy. I wanted to do the 2 rows/2 levels and the big overhead projector screen, but this red curved sectional and the 55 inch Mitsubishi Rear Projection cost me 3 grand together about 6 years back.

Since the gal that bought my old place where these items fit perfectly didn't want to pay for them, we took them with to the new house and tried to make them work in our new Cinema room. It's not ideal, but it works well, and the room looks sweet with all the red and black/charcoal.

In the spirit of sharing, I thought I would throw up some pics of the 'theater' aka Vikings Lounge. The plan is to replace the current couches (not pictured) with a nice football-brown suede set in time for this falls kickoff. Not as fancy as some but it certainly works for me.

Also, just outside of the theater room there is a bar & fully stocked liquor cab with mini-fridge. The game room itself, located on the other end of the basement, was posted last fall but has seen some recent game subtractions\additions.

Even MORE gameroom images

I have other games that are not shown here. The gameroom has been re-arranged to make room for more stuff, but I am not done...

The last 2 images are of a pedestal setup that I built over last Christmas break. It has THX certified speakers with sub, a 42 inch plasma, and you can use the arcade controls to play PS3 (as shown), PS2 and Xbox games (including emulators). The last image is of my 14 year old son playing Afterburner: Climax on it with a USB flight stick on the PS3...

Here is mine or I should say what it use to look like (Home theater) and what my game rooms look like now, but wont for to much longer. I have two more section, but I was only limited to 5 pics. I will be trying to have a little get together soon.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

LeeB99, I love your setup. I even forgive you for hanging an AOTC poster in there. Hehehehe. I kid I kid.

But seriously....could you unfreeze Captain Solo for me? The bastard has my car keys in his pocket.

The Episode 2 poster was framed and put in the gameroom when the movie was BRAND NEW in the theaters. I thought that Ep 2 was "decent". "The Empire Strikes Back", however, is the BEST in my opinion.

My arcade is a little re-arranged from the photos. Things are getting tighter. I have more games to put in, and it's going to take putting "rows" out into the middle of the room to fit them all...

I second DJdns. It was funny because as many times I had been over there I never knew the theater was there. He also has a parts warehouse in the basement :)

it seems hard or unbelievable ? except some "mtv cribs" where stars show their "little gameroom... rarely impressive !", and some hometheater (never something incredible...)

is there someone somewhere somehow who did the best part of these both worlds ? having a very good gameroom + a very good hometheater ?

except "hugh heffner" mansion... i have only memory of a german family who created a hometheater (for around 30 people) and next to it a bar (but there was only one generic arcade...)

i would love to see this in pictures/videos ! not you ???

Yep - my gameroom is set up just like this - arcade, home theater, and train layout. I'll be taking some pictures today and try to figure out how to post them...stay tuned.

Tom

Last night, we had a graduation party for my son, who just "graduated" middle school and will soon be going to high school. Things have been re-arranged quite a bit, and I was able to make room for my freshly restored Mad Planets, which was just finished the night before. Also, I took the "old" 2,200 lumen projector that USED to be in the movie theater (which was replaced by a high contrast LCOS unit about three years ago) and installed it in place of that cheezy DLP that was running on the screen in the gameroom (which you can see in the image with the pool table). Since it is a native 16:9 projector, I had to build a new screen for it and re-run wiring, as the projector uses a different cable system. I will post up a couple of pics with the changes here soon. Thankfully, there were no real "casualties", with the exception of the fact that SOMEONE managed to break one of the men on my Dyanamo foosball table. I can't imagine how that happened.

here's a pic of a hometheater I painted for a builder that offers it as an option in the homes he builds. This is in the model home. Wish i had taken more pics. Outside the door they've got a little concession stand with a popcorn popper, candy and quite a few movie memorabilia pieces. I've been in talks to setup a small gameroom(pool table and a few games) there as well...it will most likely never happen though. I forget the cost but i know this was easily more than 40k to setup.
