I think I might have some dirty pots on my WG 4901 monitor chassis and neckboard (red cutoff, black level, etc.)
In any case, I would like to replace them.

So I was thinking about rather than replacing them directly, I could mount them on one of those little prototype boards from the Shack, and just solder long wires to the chassis to the proto board - thus making a sort of homemade remote board like some of the newer monitors came with.

Think I'd be introducing problems there - like maybe interference from the long wire runs, etc?

Don't think so because later monitors had them factory. You could twist the wires of each pot to prevent most interference if you are still expecting it.

Yeah I'm picturing using stranded wires, twisting them, and then using some cable ties along the length to make a nice neat little bundle. I think I'm gonna try it, and worst case I can always just relocate the new pots back to the chassis.

I just really like looking directly at the screen (rather than mirror) when making the adjustments.
