Home-Use Only Donkey Kong?

The entire thing has been painted... there's blue not just on the coin door, but on the base and on the inner side of the cabinet. If it was ever a HUO cab they've gone out of their way to negate any value that would have added. Plus, who would add a lock bar to the coin door of a cabinet that had never been on location?

Obviously, they can't trust the kids and grandma not to break in for quarters!

No way that is HUO. Creative description at best. Ugh, a restore is in order.

I call BS on the DK.

Ive had people tell me their games are home-use only despite the heavy use, tax stickers and 25k+ plays on the coin counter.

For when the ad is gone:

That's not even a legitimate lock-bar. You could probably cut that thing off with wire cutters, let alone bolt cutters.

Yeah.... I'd (at best) e-mail him and offer to drop 1 "0" off of that price....

It's kinda sad, really.... aside from it's condition. These "know-it-alls" are getting their prices from retail sites that sell high-end versions, and think they've got a mint. Look at that guy who had the Gorf in my local area. I kinda feel like sending him an e-mail to find out how that went.

That coin door has been kicked in too; it doesn't even close flush:

Someone should ask him about the missing sideart, bad paint job, kicked-in coin door, and lock bar. If he's determined to stick with his "lightly used", "HUO" story, the reply might be funny.

Where does it say home use only?

I see no scam here.

Original Nintendo Donkey Kong, Video Arcade Game. 1981 Collectors Dream! Purchased brand new from local Arcade Supplier. This console unit was purchased as is from a company that sells gaming units to the arcades in the day it was popular. It has been in my house and used only by family members. Lightly used. Everything works. Must See. $1500 OBO.

Se bolded portions of the text from that ad.

Allegedly purchased brand new and has been in his house and used only by family members = allegedly HUO.

Ok, listen... Obviously it was purchased brand new from an arcade supplier. It had to be when it was first sold to someone... also the point of it being only used in his home by family is also true since that is what happened after he acquired it... have we all forgotten that all of our machines meet this criteria??? Sheesh. There is no deception here, so let's all move on...derp.

Oh, and the other big clue that it's obviously original are the mounting bolts for the monitor... they all came converted from another horizontal game to vertical DK's don't you know?
