Has anyone ever ink-jet printed their own Neo-Geo mini marquees? What material works best to print on?

I always printed mine on standard paper and then laminated them.

The thin paper allows the light to get through, and the lamination makes the colors really rich.

I printed mine on photo paper and they look great. I was going to use them temporarily until I found real ones, but these look just as good to me.

I wasn't very impressed with using just plain old inkjet paper, I ended up sticking a second piece in to get the light levels near correct. I'll have to try the photopaper, that sounds like it would probably work really well.

I tried using a generic NG logo, the blue and yellow one with MVS in black and a white background (I can get a copy of that to you later Frizz, but it's at home and I'm at the office right now).

It looks really good actually, the only issues I have are that 4x6 photo paper is not wide enough for the window on my one slot marquee. I stuck a piece of white paper behind to prevent a gap, and it still looks alright, but it would be better with 5x7 and no need for the paper. The other is that I used HP photo paper, and if you look closely, you can see the HP logos from the back of the paper when the marquee is lit up. I just have a normal fluorescent bulb, no panels, I suspect it would look worse with the panels.

I ended up going with the 2 white cards with the yellow/blue neo geo circle and 2 black cards with the red/white neo-geo/snk logo at the bottom. I really would like to make a custom one for the 150-in-1 and perhaps a custom Asshat Arcade one too...

It came out decent enough. I print right on to Costco photo paper...which has no logos on the back (the Kodac high end stuff I have has a logo on back).

Thanks guys!

PS: Someone here posted a kickass 100-in-1 Neo Geo custom marquee but it's low res and the link to the file-depot no longer works. Anyone have that version handy?

That's the key, if you have areas that will be pure white sometimes the watermarking on the back of photo paper will look like a smudge on the back when back lit.

When I did the marquee for my 3/5th size Galaga MAME cabinet I had EMDKAY.net print it since I didn't have access to a printer / paper of the proper size. Essentially it's just printed on high quality photo paper with high quality ink, but as it's intended to be back lit there is no watermark on the back.

That looks nice... is the text large enough to be readable at the proper size? I wonder if I could add 30 more titles... willing to email me the full sized version with permission to modify it for 150-in-1 usage?

Text is completely legible and easy to read. I use it ALL THE TIME to see what game I want to play.

If you made the header smaller you could add more titles.

As far as printing them goes, I did a couple on transparencies. I reverse printed them, then sprayed a few light coats of white paint over the ink (which is the back since they were reverse printed). I did a MS 4 and SVC Chaos. Both came out pretty decent. I may have some pix from back then. I did them for a friend, so I don't have them currently.

Using blkdog7's custom 120-in-1 marquee above I put together a quick and easy 2-slot 150-in-1 mini-marquee set...

...and how it looks in-cab (please ignore the cracked plexi...I need to replace that!):
