Here is a funny Teaser...
I found it and I think it says it all...

There is a multiplex movie theater next door to me that also has 2 or 3 pairs also.
On weekends they are pretty busy. They also can be a bit noisy. My tech office is right next to them so it can get nerve racking on the weekend.

I am installing UBoats (Sonic Isolators on my lane undercrib framework... These are used in the Recording Industry to isolate sound...
..
I have used them in a radio station production studio that was right next to a bowling alley...
..
Problem is - they are an Install when building solution - kinda hard to install after the fact...

I've seen a pair of the shorter (Maybe Route 66?) coin op setups for $20k recently/locally...

Those short coin op setups (like they have in Great Wolf Lodges) are actually quite fun. I'd like to have one but couldn't justify the cost, and probably don't have enough space either.

My apologies... I noticed it while reading the thread... Never thought to look at the date - but,,, still the info needed correction...

I'd love to see pics of this. I know it's more work, but I'm sure quite a few of us would love to follow this project.

So has anyone put one in yet?

I am looking into this. Cost is high, but if you are planning on building a separate building for an arcade, then it is not too bad.

The size required for 2 full size lanes and seating and pin access is 18' x 100'.

The cost is approximately $150K for 2 lanes. This includes everything except for the building.

I don't think you would ever come close to getting your money back if you ever sold your house. Bowling alleys aren't very wanted when it comes to picking out a house.

that's probably the last thing he would be worried about.

Sweet. I'm glad you live close. :D

There's a coin-op bowling alley on craigslist near me. 2 lanes, 41' x 9'. 60k MSRP and it could be all yours for the low low price of 30k.

AMF Thunder Bowl Arcade Bowling Alley

If anyone has or is getting a bowling alley, I have several Herman Miller style AMF fiberglass chairs. They would go great with a home bowling alley.

If anybody's interested I worked at a bowling alley for a few months and made this video on how the pinsetters operate, uploaded it a while back for another KLOVer as he was interested. Worked with my dad but he didn't like it, but I took a strong liking to it so I hope to apply there officially once I get the chance.
