Holy Smokes! Tron, MCR, and Fried Ribbon Cables

id go back to another set of cables..


my tron was missing stuff untill i got fresh cables on it..

you just have to use a meter and like some old cap lead to verify how the cables are wired...

ive seen them be onee pin off on one side, and my big problam was having a few cables that the top row would be hooked up on one side but the bottom row would be connected on the other...

Yeah, I'm pissed I fried one of my new cables still. Funny thing is after re-installing the old cables and removing and working on the pcb, the cables flaked out and died. I got nothing but a garbled scrolling image on the screen so I went ahead and put the new ones back on.

So now I have 4 new cables and my best looking old one on the boards and am still getting the missing sprites. Been swapping cables, reseating chips, cleaning, hoping, and praying to the arcade gods to get the board going 100% but no such luck yet.

Got the video gen board working, but now all my sprites have lines through them. Found out some of the pins on the vid gen board ROMS are missing. Posted a pic and some more details in the wanted forum section.

Check for bad rams too.
