Holy shit! WOZ is a WIDEBODY!!!

the WSOP theme is one that i actually like, but i've only played it once and it wasn't fully working.....i didn't really enjoy it. i want to play one that's fully working before i make up my mind on that one though. i think the sopranos pin is kinda fun, but the theme isn't really family friendly.

as for CSI, 24, stones....meh....i could do without.

I still don't get the Stones theme hate....who doesn't like classic rock? Weirdos. ;)

...and while I will agree that the design is cheap and the Mick toy is conceptually stupid...when I played the game on location at my local movie theater, I thought the game was fun as fuck! :)

Oh, and it's World Poker Tour, btw... WPT :)

While TRS looks like a fun game to play, but I loathe the stones so unless I had my ipod jamming ozzy I wouldn't spend .50 to play it.

wow. just wow. i guess there's always a few...

everybody knew the TRON pin was gonna be based on the new movie.

sorry you didn't care for the new movie.

Haven't you heard the dum-dum-dum-dum-d-dum-TRON? So it is based on the first one. :)

Seriously, it would be too much theme for one game. A few more homages might have been nice but probably would have required additional license costs. One license doesn't necessarily get you access to both films.

I've got about 50 games on TRON (pro) so far (the one that was at CAX and now at Pacific Pinball Museum) and I think it's a great game. Lots of interesting shots, good strategy, nice looking (but a few nitpicks here and there). It's also a very fast and challenging player.

The light and sound show is better in overall composition to almost any 90s pin, up there with TZ, and that's with factory speakers. With aftermarket speakers, yikes...!

The disc is a huge improvement over IM's Monger in terms of adding some randomness and not "forcing" you to play it, as IM does. Still nine out of ten times whatever the disc throws can be saved or dealt with skillfully so the design choice to put it at the top of the playfield was smart.

Whether or not it's perfect for home use, can't say. But as a location game I think it's excellent. As some people were leaving PPM, they all stopped and watched me and a friend play it. They were all impressed by it.

Any pin that makes people stop and say "What's that?" is already halfway to being a winner in my book. But the play backs it up regardless.

i have no idea why i typed "WSOP".....great googily moogily. i've played one...well aware that it's not a world series license. of course, i may have been drinking...i cannot confirm nor deny that. ;)

as for stones: i'm just not a fan of music licenses. i'm not a big stones fan, but i don't hate their music. it's just not a theme that i care much about...and that goes for any band.

i would play one, given the chance though. most sterns i've played are pretty darn fun....i think the worst one is T3....played that one last week at marco's....ugggggghhhhhh. i finally just turned the damn thing off mid-ball. lol.

I've seen what amuses you dude. You're not difficult to please. LOL : )

Actually, I like the Rolling Stones as a band. I just think the pinball machine is cheap. The plastic Mick is really cheesy. At least with BBH they used an actual molded piece. The announcer's English accent almost sounds like an American trying to impersonate a Brit. The first time I played the game, I won two credits and walked away leaving them on the machine.

EDIT: By the way, I'm pretty excited about WOZ now. I talked with JJ on the phone last night for at least a few hours and he revealed a lot of good stuff about what they're doing with the game. It's going to be OFF THE HOOK!

Hey, not arguing...but there's a massive difference between purchasing a machine, and sticking some quarters in it for some fun after seeing a movie. :)

Stern has done plenty of multi-movie, all-inclusive themes, like Indiana Jones and Lord of the Rings. It's not unusual to think their TRON pin would cover the original as well as the sequel. I think as a result, the long-term value of the machine will suffer.

I dunno, dude...the Tron fans are all inclusive of their Tron-love, and the new movie is just as good (if not better) to them as the old one. I was over at a friend of a friend's house last nite to play his Tron LE...and they just could NOT stop talking Tron Tron Tron Tron Tron. They know all the quotes, my friend's kid quotes the movie all day long. He's trying to convince me to watch it again...dunno if I can stomach it, but he wants to see it on my 130" screen....heh. For the people that are into Tron, this game is holy.

Now, as a Non-Tron, I have to say - it is a gorgeous game. Played it w/ the 1.3 upgrade and it's just gorgeous, feels nice, it's fun to shoot and has satisfying combos. The disc does some crazy magic on the ball.

I think it will have no problem holding its value. The Tronnies have spoken.

that's where i stand on it. love the old movie, but if i had to pick one to watch it would be TRON2 in 3D. nerdgasm.

oh, and "tronnies".......lmao!!!

I think you're overestimating the attention span of the average consumer. The Matrix was more of a modern classic franchise than Tron, and it had everybody going apeshit when the sequels came out. I doubt anyone cares now.

You're right though. We'll see. I just don't think the sequel did justice to the original.

Then again, I thought the Speed Racer movie was brilliant and I don't understand why so many people didn't like it. So I may not have my finger on the pulse of pop culture, but I sure think a Speed Racer pin would be cool.

The thing with Tron is pop culture...it's all around you, Tron developed the look of what we see car commercials copy, from dressing, to music, it is all around without really knowing. Tron is a style and a futurists outlook of marketing. I know Tron may not have put up amazing bucks at the box office, but I think it covers a deeper base than the movie, the movie just had a amazing concept and art style. BTW the Matrix ripped off a lot of what the original Tron theory was. And a few other movies have took notice on the art style which is Tron. I think Tron and Blade Runner are the most influential art style films ever produced, Just my 25 cents :) jeez... I sound so nerdy reading this over :)

I think Blade Runner was a better movie overall, than Tron. It's strange to think these two movies were released within a month of each other.

I think the most influential American movie in general was probably Citizen Kane, followed by the Godfather I and II. You'll never get everyone to agree on these things...

Your right nobody will have the same opinion, which is fine. I was just pointing out the success that Tron really had, it wasn't the story it was the look. Blade Runner is no doubt the most timeless film for science fiction.

I thought it might be a widebody, but was not sure until this morning.

Not being a fan of widebody machines, I don't know if I will enjoy this. Not sure why I don't like them, just never have. Don't like Indiana Jones, Twilight Zone, Roadshow, Judge Dredd, Demolition Man, well, you get the idea.

I think it's amazing that he is letting this stuff out there. So NOT the way Stern does it, and I find that to be a good thing.

Chris

It's because widebody machines seem slower. The ball spends more time going side to side than up and down on a regular pin. (My theory anyway). I have always had some problems with widebody pins also, truthfully I prefer a narrow pin.

maybe it's just me.. but i would never take a risk in pre-ordering a machine that i have never played or seen only because it's 500 cheaper. If i would not like the machine and sell it.. i would loose more than that 500. Why on earth would you do that....?

Well, it also seems that the LEs sold out, so you may not be able to get one very cheap later. (And it's "lose," not "loose"!)
