Holy shit! WOZ is a WIDEBODY!!!

JJP is keeping everyone in the dark? What? Have you seen any of the near-constant updates? Something tells me their preorder numbers will remain just fine.

Actually Stern is the manufacturer that keeps everybody in the dark. They often don't reveal details on their games at all, and people end up having to report on the game's configuration after they're already made. Stern deletes any un-favorable comment (or even neutral comments) on their Facebook page. In many cases, Stern changes the configuration on the fly. I think it's more of a risk pre-ordering a Stern game. Look at all the people that got bitten on Avatar and The Rolling Stones. I think Tron is probably not that great of a game either, but people that plunk down the money for a NIB pin and find out it sucks aren't going to say that because they need to protect their investment. But I've played the last few Sterns and they were lame. Iron Man was pretty decent, but still not worth the money. TRS and Avatar were downright awful. And lots of people pre-ordered Tron on the strength of the license alone. And it was disappointing to find out that the machine was exclusively modeled after the sequel and not the franchise itself or any part of the original movie. I thought the sequel sucked.

Contrast this with WOZ. The theme is rock solid and a timeless classic - they're not basing the machine around some half-assed sequal like Stern did with Tron or Data East did with the broadway version of Tommy. JJP is paying attention to even the smallest details, like the idle music. They have an amazing design team and they've continued to release details and pictures all along the way. Stern has not put out nearly as much info on their titles.

wow. just wow. i guess there's always a few...

everybody knew the TRON pin was gonna be based on the new movie.

sorry you didn't care for the new movie.

i didn't care for either tron movie that much.however,im very excited about playing the tron pin.i thought avatar the movie was ok.i love the avatar pin.just my 2 cents.

Different strokes for different folks. Personally I thought the Avatar pinball stunk. And Rolling Stones was even worse. I haven't had a chance to play Tron yet - hopefully it's better than the last two.

Generally-speaking I just don't think Stern has done much innovating. Most of their gimmicks are snatched from Bally/WMS. I wish they'd come up with something new and creative. The lenticular translight is about the most original thing they've done and that's not all that original or innovative - it's still 1960s technology.

Stern's DMD work is really lame.. still sub-par with other manufacturers who are now defunct.

I am hoping that JJP will not simply release WOZ and move on, but continue to add more to the software and make their premier game continue to evolve with more features. With a LCD screen in the backbox, there's lots of potential - they could incorporate a jukebox, networked score tables and lots more things that Stern should have done a decade ago. Let's hope they do.

Well... Stern really did step up to the plate with this one ! The Disc spinner is like nothing that has been done before, it shoots it out in random ways you would not believe. Also the fiber optic light tubing is a very pretty light show. The gameplay well.....I have already put 435 plays on it, I just got it 2 weeks ago :) I honestly like it better than Spider man.

Listening to arcade podcasts on a roadtrip... YOU are full of win!! I want to party with you, cool brah! Oh, wait... nevermind...

Dude you are amazing..... how can you post on the Internet while at same time drag racing a top fuel dragster, snorting cocaine and having sex with two playboy playmates? Please share with us your secret to manliness!

If that was his point, then he needs to re-read my post.

go back and read goodgameslover's post that you quoted, and have a look at what *he* quoted in that post. you misunderstood his point - he wasn't saying JJP is keeping folks in the dark; quite the opposite.

if you still don't get it, then there's not much more any of us can do for you.

OK my bad :)

I re-read goodgameslover's post. I swear I'm not an idiot, though I play one sometimes online!

I'm still not sold that Dorothy's adventures with the munchkins, witches, and the cowardly lion is going to rock my socks. What's next for JJP, Babes in Toyland or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? The innovations are great and all but the license is lame.

I also fall into the "theme not thrilling" department. WoZ is a great timeless theme and I can understand why it was used but not my cup of tea either.
JJP had also announced (yes I'm sure all you knowitalls already know) an original theme is coming next which I'm MUCH more excited about.

FWIW I don't give a good gad damn if anyone has already heard about it or not. Plenty of people that don't sit at a computer all day long reading this site or more importantly RGP. If a person can't share their thoughts or news, what point is there having a forum? (Unless it has to deal with the Star Wars chair)

Yeah, because "24" and "The Sopranos" will certainly be timeless in 20 years

:)

At the risk of getting philosophical, WOZ is more than just a movie about munchkins and witches. It's one of the greatest metaphors ever. There are a lot of life-lessons that movie teaches that people could really benefit from understanding and appreciating. The idea that the journey is more important than the destination; how we often don't appreciate something until it's gone, how we all have the ability to be happy any time we want if we simply decide to be, and that what makes us complete comes from within and not someplace else. It's a very powerful movie. Granted, there are no awesome explosions, radioactive spiders or car chases, but it still holds up as a great script, great storyline and great movie. It's a refreshing change from modern movies which are much more shallow and visceral without much of a moral or life lesson to teach. Modern movies are all about destruction and vengeance. WOZ is eye-candy, but has a lot of mature ideas integrated within. But hey, you never know... they might be able to integrate some farting in there somewhere to appeal to the masses. ; )

+1 to you good sir! Well stated.

Oh I'm no Stern fanboy. I look at some of their themes and wonder how they sold 3 units. CSI? World Series of Poker? Olden Stoners? Really? I'd rather play Babes in Toyland than any of those.

the WSOP theme is one that i actually like, but i've only played it once and it wasn't fully working.....i didn't really enjoy it. i want to play one that's fully working before i make up my mind on that one though. i think the sopranos pin is kinda fun, but the theme isn't really family friendly.

as for CSI, 24, stones....meh....i could do without.
