Holy Grail acquired after 26 years. Oh yeah, it was FREE!
On Saturday, my parents went on this annual multi-town garage sale they always go on. In the little town of Dannebrog, NE they picked up a Super Pac-Man cocktail table for $50. They decided "what the heck" and gave it to me as an early Christmas present. The guy was selling off everything from his folks antique store and he said that it didn't work. The interlock switch was badly taped over and therefore intermittent. The sound didn't work but swapping in the PCB that I already had took care of that. Its in pretty good condition. The CPOs are great considering their age, only a little wear at the bend. The monitor is a WG4900 with a nice picture. The fake wood junk on the cabinet looks good except for one spot on the coin door side near the bottom. The top glass has a few minor scratches but is ok overall. Unfortunatley, the underlay is another story. It is broken into two pieces and is in kind of ratty shape but at least it is there. No manual but that's alright.
I was totally blown away when they brought it over to my place on Sunday. Way back in the day (1983), I would get to go to the arcade when I did well in school (2nd grade). There were a lot of great games back then (Bagman, Moon Patrol, Paperboy, Baby-Pac, Tron) but Super Pac was my favorite. The one I played was an upright but nothing beats free, even if it is a cocktail table. I don't really care for them much but its starting to grow on me, probably because of the game. If it was something else, I may have flipped it but this one is a keeper.
I appologize for the lack of pictures, I will try to post some later.
