HOLY CRAP. I just picked up a mostly working Pinbot for 200$. Epic Large pics inside!

HOLY CRAAAAAAP!!! I HAVE SCORED IT, FINALLY!

So this lady has a CL ad up for a garage sale. Says she has a "few" pinball machines in the ad. I send a message asking what she has and if I can swing by to take a look before the sale on saturday because I'm off wed/thursday. Didn't hear back tuesday, nothing on wed..had an doc office procedure on wed morning, didn't hear anything all day long.

I check my email this afternoon.. "Someone came and picked up two other machines earlier today that were in mint condition. What I have left is:

Williams PinBoth, starts but does not work. I had an appraisal a few years back and was told it needed 250$ of repairs to get it working. Refurb this goes for 1200$ asking 200$.

Gottlieb 300, Works but needs cosmetic work. Goes for 4200$ refurb (Ed. Note.... LOL!!!) asking 400$."

She left her number, I immediately called soon as I saw the email and me and my wife went over there. My brother kept the kids so we tore like a bat out of hell to get over there and see the pinbot. I about lost my shit right there. She also has a very minty Maverick that she's keeping for herself, and her son said they have a Shadow and a....wait for it....Baby Pac. I couldn't determine if they want to sell the Shadow or not, but the kid wanted to get rid of the Baby Pac...said it wasn't working, but they have it. :)

Pics forthcoming. The playfield is beautiful, IMO. Looks like factory custom cut mylar covering about 80% of the main playfield. Some wear around eye locks and the bonus kickout and down in the pop bumpers. It's dirty. The head is actually locked and will have to be drilled out. There's some physical damage to the wood but I think I can glue it and it will be okay with some epoxy or wood filler. Backglass has a few pinholes of light showing through but nothing major and looks like no bubbling from the front. Looks like it's the actually GLASS backglass, not the translite! WOOT! There is one plastic above the spiral ramp that is cracked in half. :( Spiral Ramp has the typical damage at the top but I could really care less.

Electrically, the flippers seem a little weak, all of the lights appear to be working. The topper is missing but all the wiring and bulbs are there and would be easy to repro from what I've seen. All the "features" of the game seem to be working. The only thing I haven't really had a chance to do is a switch test. Player 3 display is out, but guess what.. I've got a spare that I bought when I ordered a used replacement from Tood Tuckey for the Space Shuttle! HA! Awesome!

I'm stupid flippin' out (no pun intended) ecstatic right now. After narrowly missing the one a few weeks ago for 500$ that wasn't even powering on but supposedly had a pristine playfield, I'm happy. A good shopping, and probably some minor power section work and probably a flipper rebuild and this thing will be friggin SWEET!!!

Now...where do I PUT it?

I didn't actually buy the 300, she still has it. If someone's local and interested, lemme know. I'll get you the contact info.

Nice price for that. I recently got a Pinbot as well, and although I paid a lot more for it, I am just about as happy as you are with the purchace. It is a great addition to the gameroom.

A couple of things I have found since buying mine:

The stickers for the vortex ramp are less than $15 on ebay. Yours don't look too bad, but it might be easier than cleaning those.

I replaced my board with a Rottendog board. It is expensive at $300, but if there are problems with the board, it is nice to have a fully functioning one to put in there. Older versions of the RottenDog board apparently had an issue with Pinbot, but the fixed version is out now. My original board had a lot of acid damage, and I just wanted a better one for this game since it is a keeper for me.

Very nice Frax! You can't go wrong with a system 11 pin. Now you just need its bride...

I'm gonna have to sell something just to make room for this one. Bride is one of my favorites from back in the day. We live in a tiny tiny place, and yeah, we could live with three pins and a capcom big blue in our living room but....eh. I think my wife will go insane. It's just a matter of what goes at this point.....Supersonic (Already broke the theme so...meh.) or the Capcom.

I haven't even seen the boards yet. The head is locked, they don't have the key, and in the 6 years they've had it never had a reason to open it. Honestly, I don't think they've PLAYED it in the time they've had it. They said they bought it from auction locally and they didn't even know how to coin it up by hand....that's a long time to have a machine you think is broken sitting around and not have it repaired.

I know. I've gotta charge the drill then I'm goin' in like Sarah Palin in Alaska oil.

@Frax
Nice score!

Whose Fun Chicken is that?

I need one of those. :)

That pic is from her garage. She's going to sell the chicken for 50$ I think. Probably too much of a pain and not valuable enough to ship..I had absolutely no interest in it so I didn't look that closely.

I can say that Sega/Gremlin driving game is missing a pedal and has one beautiful monitor in it though, lol.

Damn, that's a great deal! I wonder how hard domes are to find for these, or are you going to simply remove the top bulbs?
