Hey yall I took my crane out of storage after not being plugged in for about 2 or 3 years. I have a broken wire that goes on the coil to let the claw down. The string boke and I have o figure out to redo that. But what troubles me, is that the claw and bridge deal wants to go when it wants to but not when I want it to. Im thinking the wires need to be resoldered and maybe I should replace the coils. Does anyone know where I can get the coils for this?
Thanks Aaron.

Who is the manufacturer of that crane?
Any idea what voltage is going to the claw coil?
Got a picture of the control/circuit boards?

Hollywood

Ots made by a company that was called Hollywood Cranes Inc.
I have no clue about the volts, I lost my meter and didnt know how to use it either.
I can atempt to take a pic of it, its very hard to get to ecause all of the wires being stuffed in with it and the coin mech.

wow dude. I hate to be the one to say this but you have too many strikes here..

-oddball maker, youll never find parts
- multiple issues
- no diagnoastic/repair info
-rats nest style assembly of boards, even when new!

unless somebody here used to op these or something, i just see a daunting task ahead of you that you might not want to get into. (can of worms comes to mind)

sorry to sound so negative man, and by all means prove me wrong, but dude seriously yours really looking at a nightmare there to get this thing all squared away. You need to fix what you have because you probhably wont be able to find parts.

****IF**** you have dc powered crane motors, then this kit may be your only hope.

Youll basically gut all the boards and wire harness, and install this.

that will leave you still fixing your claw coil and string, but will eliminate the rest of the headaches...

EDIT: AHA!!! in the manual, they talk about hollywood cranes. TO use the kit, ou need a different claw coil anyways, so there ya go..

Wow that was one of my fears.
Ill looked at the kit, I just need to figure out If itsDC. Worst case I will have to go that route.
Im hoping I can get it going/ I have had it 8-9 years and It worked good when it was in service. It paid for itself so its not a loss. I like the machine its interesting.
Ill post more If I figure anything out today.
Thanks for the links.

There is a guy on ebay with claw coils:

But from what I read in your first post, you have a broken claw string and have not restrung it yet and now you are having control issues? If so and you are trying to operate the game with the claw off of the machine it will error out or operate erratically as the limit switches are not activating.

I am not familiar enough with Hollywood cranes but all of the skill cranes I have ever worked on will not function without the claw properly strung.

I saw him, I was trying to figure out If hey would work for me. I dont even know how to get mine apart. I did re string it finall, but its not claw string. I kind of un wound it by hand a little and wen back up with it. The string wont stay where it should so I dont know If I routed it wrong or If its to big. The switches are all touching though, but there could be a wire I missed thats loose. Is hard to see in that little thing.
