Hold my hand and walk me through this JAMMA-tization

Alright, so as most know, I picked up a really cheap and really nice CT dice game with a flawless 13" monitor and hardly a scratch on it. I do not want to part it out, but I want to convert it into a multi. Luckily, this machine already has a "Peter Chou" style PS in it, so I am good there.

Now, step one. I need a JAMMA harness. Do they come labeled with what wire goes to where? Whos got the least expensive? Anybody got a walkthrough on how to install it?

I have made about 8 or 10 multicade 60 in 1's so I can give a little advice.
Certainly guys like mod have made hundreds I am sure and may have better
more experienced insight.

cheapest jamma harness is maybe jammaboards.com.
If they are out it's binkerball on ebay is their I.D. I believe. While the one from
jammaboards isn't labeled with each wire, they send you a schematic telling you which
wire is which. It isn't difficult to follow. And theirs has the quick connects already
on every wire so there is little stripping and crimping with their harness.
Some will argue that the quality is not as good as bob roberts and I agree.
Put it this way, when I build a 60 in 1 for someone, to keep costs down I use jammaboards.com, for my multiwilliams I am using a bob roberts harness. His is
labeled for every single wire. Very very easy to work with. Not crimped with connectors.
I think kingsley(avidcollect) sells them on here as well, and I always get my
60 in 1's from him, though I know nixs probably sells the most. And has numerous
happy customers.

this thread has gone one long enough to sustain anyone's attention.
If you want to pm me you are certainly welcome to, if you need any advice.

For a variety of reasons I'm not always the biggest Arcade Shop fan but their Super Jamma Harness is awesome. Jammaboards.com has the jamma pin out, it is also in the 60 in 1 manual you will get when you get the board. It's much more scare than it sounds. If it's your first, AS harness comes with the CP connectors already in place(which is nice. To make things easy, use a switcher for power. I usually clip the monitor wire (RGB, Ground and Sync) on the old harness, as well as the speaker wires and keep them (especially if the speakers have a potentiometer wired in, just a nice touch for controlling volume outside of the menus) At that point it's like a color by numbers, just connect the wires to the proper spot. But the bulk pack of little white zip ties at HD, and I use a mix of the flat adhesive tie downs and the larger zip ties with the bolt down attached. I just makes sure to screw down each of the little ones(just use the standard bolt with a 1/4" top that is in every arcade cabinet buy the 100 pack at hd of these too) that adhesive on them doesn't hold very well, even less well in old cabs. That's my two cents, I can post some pictures of the latest two I did, Centi came out great, and my cocktail was revived from a dead pac cab to a very nice multi. One last thing, the cheaper harnesses can be buggy, ie, sometimes the wires are so fine they fail, for your first, just make it easy, drop the 35 on the super Jamma. Oh and Kingsley is the bomb (avidcollect) although I would buy the AS board from him, very expensive but I'm loving it.

Awesome. Does anybody know the cheapest place to get a 48-in-1 board and the necessary joysticks/buttons?

Nixs will have the cheapest board most likely.
$75 shipped I think.

Now if this is a keeper for you. Those are some of the biggest control panels I have seen in a cocktail. You may consider going 60 in 1 and putting trackballs in the bitch for centipede, millipede, super breakout.
Price goes way up then I suppose, and it may not actually fit well, so some major modifications may be needed.

I see items on ebay where guys sell the happ joysticks in pairs for like $20.
I have got some joysticks and buttons for like $28 on ebay before as well.
