Hmmmm why did I buy this?

My Dad has an old EM baseball game that is fully restored and when he thought he had room for it, it turns out he didn't. I took it in, and its a fucking massive waste. It stops working all the time, and no one fucking plays it.

I don't want it in the garage anymore, but don't know what to do with it. I'm literally trapped with it.

You'll be buried in it. Accept it now.

That's kind of where I am with my kids gigantic Chuck E. Cheese size double basketball hoop game that my mom bought for them. I mean yeah, it was awesome for the kids when they were younger and both in basketball, but as they've gotten older they only play it once a month or so. Sometimes it might go three months without getting touched. Yet there it is, taking up a gigantic portion of my Arcade.

No space for your arcade machines? Time to the secondary storage, third, fourth etc etc. Friends work places, friends homes.

So you want to collect arcade machines for a hobby, why don't l let you experice that fun thing for a year or two, three, four.... has it been over ten years? Boy time has flown by fast.

Laughs..

I just need to stop trying to save everything from the landfill.
This. Half the cabinets in my garage right now are train wrecks and I am unable to do actual fun projects at this point. It feels bad seeing suff getting destroyed. At the same time these things are objects not people.

picked up a Golden Tee Fore! Complete for free.
spent too much time and money getting it working, but did so and sold it before it stopped working again
glad that I broke even (minus labor)
wont be doing that again

Sheeeeiiiiiitttttt - Golden Tee is the most played game in our lineup and its not close.

Gotta admit whenever I fire up the Mame cab in the bar for some games and a beer, 9 times out of 10 Golden Tee comes out. Had the cab once, a beast, hated it lol.

I have a 2019 LIVE pedestal. play all the time
The Complete was pretty cool. Hard as hell. Love Pat Summerall
My friend has whichever GT version that has the swear ROMs. Hearing some dude say "what the fuck was that" or "you stupid cocksucker" when you make a terrible shot is one of the greatest things I've ever heard.

Nope, I buy stuff that amuses me. I also will liquidate and count the loss as my hobby. I am working on unloading a Bingo but will take it to auction and see what other basket case I can drag home

To be absolutely honest? Cheyenne. I saw it pop up on Facebook back in 2020 for $650. In my mind at that time these games were at least worth 1700+, so this felt like a steal. This one was working and just needed some cabinet work. It was down in Iowa 3 1/2 hours one way so I had to prepare for a seven hour round-trip. Drove down and met the dude, picked up the game and drove it back. Now remember this is 2020. My kids were like 11 and 8 and I couldn't wait for them to play this wonderful gun game - something we've never had in the arcade. Each took a few turns playing it when I got it back and then I basically told them "OK, that'll be your last game for a while as Dad's gonna restore this one for the Arcade so you'll be able to play it in a few months."

Well months turned into years and here we are in 2025. I've got the cabinet restored and the gun restored, but the game doesn't work and I'm not sure what's wrong. Now my kids are 16 and 13. My youngest will be 14 in less than a month. They are losing interest in arcade games and the arcade in general, and by the time I figure this game out, the oldest one will most likely be out of the house. I don't have room for the game anymore, as it's gigantic. It now sits in the garage, taunting me, the gun hitting me in the face every other day when I try to walk past it. I thought I was doing something awesome for my kids and myself, and it just turned into a gigantic regretful boat anchor that has given me zero joy. I think a lot of it has to do with my wife's hatred of this hobby. This game and a Crossbow I was restoring were in the way for my daughter's graduation party over 2 years ago, and she has never let me forget it. My oldest son's graduation is in less than 2 years, and as of now, it's still sitting here in the way. This game has caused me a lot of grief and I wish I never would've picked it up. That being said, I hope to get it working by fall and sold. I think I would enjoy this hobby much better if I could get rid of half my games and sort of reset the arcade.
Thats a fun game when working, I would hold onto that/ Always loved the Exidy game Cheyanne🤣. I am sure if you wanted to deall it there would be some takers. I remember playing it for the first time and thing where the F*ck is this guy walking too. Cursing at the screen as the sherriff walked around.

There was a time when Assault was the flavor of the month so I had to have one, owned it maybe six months ago.

You need better friends.
I host arcade repair parties.
Broken arcade machines plus friends with Broken arcade machines equals fixed arcade machines and great memories of the repairs.

Sadly, geographical issues to this abound-

Hey you Joe! (and any other capable repair geniuses) you are welcome to come visit to help me sort some shit out.
I have two Rush 2049s, a Paperboy, a Rampage, and a No Fear pin that don't behave all the time.

I don't regret buying those though.

Don't threaten me with a good time.

Break out the caps, the pin crimper and the esr meter

Gunblade NY (the huge projection monitor version). When I first got in the hobby I thought I had to snatch up all I could. Gunblade took up so much room in my garage (4 uprights worth of space). I never even messed with it. Ended up trading it for some PCBs. I was more than happy to make that trade.
