I just did a flipper rebuild. And the right flipper keeps moving up when I play. So that eventually it just is at 45 degrees when down. I tried tightening it down do hard I broke one bolt. Is there a trick to this??

Make sure that you have set screws(should have a point on the end of the bolt to dig into the shaft.

I can't see any set screw in the flipper design. It's like a u shape that is tightened around the shaft. I'm probably being very slow here.

Should have asked before. What machine is it?

A fishtales. Brand new assembly ordered from pinball life.

It's so loose now I can't play a single game. It's as tightend as I can't get it. Any tips. Anyone?

I wish Logan was closer, I'd drop by and take a look.

When you tighten up the flipper shaft with the allen wrench, make sure you're leaving enough play on the top of the playfield. You should be able to lift the flipper bat a bit. Often times you'll just need to keep adjusting until you get the right amount of play. Tightening or loosening that allen wrench screw really shouldn't make much of a difference. Just make sure that the flipper is aligned properly, that there's some play in the flipper bat (up and down), and that all your screws are snug (don't need to be ultra tight).

Yep i solved it. Looks like what was happening was the part that grips the flipper shaft was not tightening correctly. (I wish I could think of its name) But the end of it was pressing together before the center tightened down. So I took a file and modified it so that I could tighten it down more before it touched. Worked great and I still think its plenty strong. Sorry for that really bad discription! And thanks everyone for your help!
