Figured this may be a better place to ask instead of piggybacking on my Gen Repair thread.

I have a Taito Trimline Space Invaders with a Hitachi K14C-5080 B&W. The picture is coming up but in horizontal orientation. I thought this should natively come up in vertical (as that's how it's mounted) and I've never messed with the monitor board or yoke on this. I have looked over the board and yoke but can't find anything that would switch this. Since there's no manual or documentation known of on the web, anyone worked on one of these or know of a way to make it vertical again?

I'm hoping I'm overlooking something simple. After having the Trimline in my house for the past 5 months non-working, it's killing me having it actually playable but in the wrong orientation. Thanks!

Are you sure you don't have the yoke wires swapped? I.e., vertical to horizontal and vice versa. Does the image repeat across the screen?

I checked the board connections. There's one molex with 3 plugins and the other is 4. Both have keys in them so there's no way to reverse them. Unless the wires have been physically removed and reinserted I don't know how they'd get crisscrossed.

The image is just one stable image, only Space Invaders stretched horizontally instead of vertically.

Can you take a picture of the monitor, and what it's doing? I'm not quite sure I understand you... Are you saying that the (usually vertical) screen of Space Invaders is being displayed rotated 90 degrees?

Yup, that's what I'm trying to describe. I'll take a pic of it tonight, but for now, if you wanted to play it, you'd have to tilt your head to the right 90 degrees.

The monitor board itself looks like this:

I've only ever worked on a couple of those. Does it look like the yoke has been messed with. You could always rotate it 90 degrees.

Ever figure it out?

Has anyone every capped one of these monitors? Mine looks great but the caps look old. I wanted to get to it before I would "need" to.

Ask, and ye shall receive...
